The Role

Job Overview:

LPL’s Client Success division is hiring a VP, Conference Content Strategist, to join our energetic, fast-paced Conference Experiences team that propels growth of our existing client relationships through in-person events. Our programs include incentive recognition trips, educational programming and our flagship annual conference which hosts more than 8,000 attendees. This role is responsible for developing the overall content strategy, messaging and communication plans for our high-profile client events to maximize return on investment for the company.

The leader will work cross-functionally in developing strategy on multiple client conferences simultaneously. Key partners will include marketing, brand, communication, product and business unit stakeholders. Candidates must have a proven track record of effective engagement with C-Suite leaders and senior executives. The VP must be passionate about creating content strategies aligned to business imperatives, rather than being a receiver of them.

To continue delivering industry-leading conference experiences for our clients, we need to further invest in the integrated content planning that serves as a centerpiece of these events. We aim to raise the bar at every conference and as the demands for content support increase, we need to ensure that we are putting the right talent and number of resources behind these valuable presentations. Adding to the CFX content support team will serve to create a fully resourced, team-based approach that will benefit the clients/attendees and our executive speakers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic planning for development of conference content approach and execution; content includes, not limited to: story arcs, content outlines, executive conference presentations and/or talking points, run-of-show, keynotes, video and/or podcast scripts

  • Work with subject matter experts to develop content approaches that are aligned with LPL’s strategic objectives and meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders

  • Curate and personalize content approaches to reflect the unique needs and ensure high degrees of relevancy for conference participants

  • Demonstrate effective storytelling; connect the dots across departments and teams with multiple priorities to develop a cohesive story and content strategy

  • Lead writers, designers, and producers and production teams in development of all show content – including general sessions and breakout sessions

  • Consult C-level leadership on presentation structure and design that effectively tells their story and engages audiences

  • Oversee live production for events; collaborate with internal resources and third-party vendors to bring content development and production to life through in-person experiences and execution

  • Coordinate with executives to deliver thought leadership messaging in a variety of formats (presentations, panels, podcasts)

  • Build deep knowledge of key focus areas across the organization and leverage expertise to translate complex concepts into compelling storytelling and activation ideas

  • Identify omni-channel formats and techniques to deliver information; leverage event content for merchandising in post-event activation to achieve greater leverage and impact

What are we looking for?

We want strong collaborators who can deliver a world-class client experience. We are looking for people who thrive in a fast-paced environment, are client-focused, team oriented, and are able to execute in a way that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or another related field

  • Experience in event production, event content management and communications in large organizations

  • Exceptional communicator with outstanding oral, written, editing and presentation skills

  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and a desire to succeed

  • Creative, confident, innovative problem-solver

  • Strong relationship builder and servant leader who excels in matrix environments
