SUMMARY
The Vice President of Community Living serves as a strategic executive leader responsible for the overall performance, growth, and sustainability of Life Unlimited’s Community Living services. This role provides system-wide oversight of program quality, financial performance, and operational effectiveness while ensuring services deliver meaningful, person-centered outcomes.
As a member of the Executive Team, the VP partners cross-functionally to advance organizational strategy, strengthen service delivery models, and ensure readiness for evolving regulatory and value-based reimbursement environments. This leader is accountable for building high-performing teams, fostering a culture aligned with Life Unlimited’s mission, and ensuring services remain compliant, innovative, and financially strong.

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALITY– Ensure Exceptional, Person-Centered Outcomes
• Provide executive oversight of all Community Living programs to ensure alignment with Life Unlimited’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities
• Ensure services deliver measurable, person-centered outcomes consistent with Meaningful Day principles and regulatory requirements
• Establish and maintain systems for continuous quality improvement across program
• Monitor program performance data, identify trends, and implement corrective and improvement strategies
• Partner with Quality Assurance to oversee all incident management, inquiries, and investigation processes
• Ensure timely and appropriate responses to investigations, including oversight of corrective action plans
• Drive system-level learning from incidents and ensure continuous improvement
• Ensure Community Living program meets licensing, regulatory, and payer compliance requirements
• Stay current on regulatory changes and ensure policies, procedures, and practices are updated, implemented, and sustained
• Promote a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement
• Ensure effective use of organizational systems (e.g., EHR, reporting tools, dashboards) to monitor performance
• Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for Community Living programs
• Drive data-informed decision-making across all areas of responsibility
• Ensure integrity, accuracy, and consistency of program data
• Utilize performance data to improve outcomes, efficiency, and strategic execution

GROWTH – Lead Strategic Expansion and Innovation
• Lead development and execution of Community Living growth strategy aligned with organizational strategic goals
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for program expansion, new service lines, and geographic growth
• Use referral, admission, discharge, and outcome data to inform strategic growth decisions
• Partner with Strategy Team, Intake Department, and program leadership to analyze service demand and capacity
• Drive innovation in service delivery models to improve outcomes and efficiency
• Support launch and implementation of new programs, ensuring readiness and sustainability
• Evaluate performance of new programs and make adjustments as needed
• Align Community Living services with emerging best practices and value-based models

FINANCIAL STRENGTH – Ensure Sustainability and Performance
• Maintain full accountability for financial performance across Community Living program
• Monitor program budgets, revenue, expenses, variances, and utilization
• Partner with Finance and Strategy teams to develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts
• Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and sustainability
• Ensure services are delivered, documented, and billed accurately and in compliance with DMH requirements
• Oversee systems and processes that support accurate billing and revenue cycle management
• Identify and implement strategies to control costs while maintaining service quality
• Ensure programs are positioned for long-term success under value-based and outcome-driven funding models

TEAM BUILDER – Develop High-Performing Leadership and Culture
• Build and sustain a strong leadership structure across Community Living programs
• Develop a leadership pipeline to support organizational growth and succession planning
• Provide executive oversight of staffing strategies to ensure programs are adequately resourced
• Partner with HR and Executive Leadership to develop recruitment, retention, and workforce strategies
• Support program leaders in performance management, coaching, and development
• Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
• Promote a positive Life Unlimited culture and ensure alignment with organizational values
• Ensure leadership teams are equipped to manage performance, address challenges, and drive results

COMMUNICATION – Drive Alignment and Organizational Effectiveness

• Ensure effective communication across all levels of Community Living and throughout the organization
• Provide regular executive-level reporting on program performance, outcomes, financial health, and risks
• Ensure data and reporting systems produce accurate, timely, and actionable information
• Collaborate across departments (QA, Finance, HR, Strategy, Operations) to ensure alignment and coordination
• Communicate organizational priorities, expectations, and updates clearly to program leadership
• Represent Life Unlimited with external stakeholders including regulators, funders, and community partners
• Actively participate in Executive Team, leadership, and strategic planning meetings
• Support organization-wide initiatives and cross-functional collaboration

Physical Expectations
This position requires extended periods of walking and standing with some periods of sitting – depending on the needs and activities of the individuals supported. It may require light to heavy lifting and occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, and/or climbing stairs again depending on the needs of the individual supported. The position will require occasional physical intervention if confronted by a person displaying combative or potentially dangerous behavior.
Working Conditions
Office/home environment with noises from appliances, office equipment, and facility/maintenance team. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and/or infectious diseases.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field required.
• Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in developmental disability services.
• Minimum of 5 years in senior leadership overseeing similar community living programs.
• Demonstrated experience in program oversight, financial management, and strategic leadership.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory, licensing, and payer requirements.
• Must obtain a Class E driver’s license during new hire orientation– must carry minimum coverage applicable by law for auto insurance
• Must Receive Seasonal Flu Vaccination
