The Vice President of Communications is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the development and execution of comprehensive branding and communication strategies that enhance brand awareness, support business growth, and foster community and stakeholder engagement within the healthcare sector. This role plays a critical part in aligning the organization's mission, vision, and values with internal and external messaging.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive leadership experience in communications or marketing.
  • Healthcare industry experience required (hospital, health system, home health, or related).
  • Strong background in brand strategy, digital marketing, public/media relations, and content creation.
  • Exceptional leadership, project management, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems, SEO/SEM, marketing automation, and data-driven marketing practices.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop and lead the overall communication strategy in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Serve as a brand steward—ensuring consistency across all platforms, messages, and materials.
  • Lead crisis communication and media strategy, including public relations management.
  • Oversee digital marketing, advertising, patient engagement campaigns, and content strategy.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to support service line growth, patient acquisition, and referral marketing.
  • Monitor market trends, patient demographics, and competitive landscape to inform strategy.
  • Direct internal communication strategies that engage and inform staff across all departments and locations.
  • Craft executive communications, thought leadership white papers, and press releases.
  • Collaborate with various teams to enhance website performance, usability and search engine optimization to maximize viewer reach.
  • Serve as the primary contact for media relations, speaking engagements, and community outreach.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing marketing and communications team.
  • Manage agency relationships, marketing vendors, and consultants as needed.
  • Oversee budget development and ROI analysis for marketing initiatives.
  • Support Human Capital strategies to attract talent and project a positive work environment.
  • Promote community partnerships, sponsorships, and events that elevate the organization's visibility.
  • Collaborate with development/foundation teams on donor marketing efforts.
