As a recognized leader in providing Private Markets Solutions to clients across the globe, we manage approximately $130 Billion in discretionary assets and have oversight of an additional $810 Billion in non-discretionary assets as of June 30, 2024.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Vice President to join our Tokyo office, to work closely with our client solutions managers for business development and/or relationship management effort. As a Vice President, you will assist in the development of new business opportunities in Japan, maintaining our Japan-based clients and helping our clients manage their private markets portfolio, and completing special projects. You will be able to communicate effectively, be proactive and be able to comfortably interact with clients and prospects.  You must also be able to operate in a fast-pace and deadline-driven environment where priorities often change. 

Your responsibilities will be to:

  •  Work directly with client solutions managers to participate in the business development activities, including meeting with the prospects, discussing with Japanese asset managers, and holding seminars.
  • Work directly with client solutions managers to prepare presentations to prospective clients.  Includes creating responses to RFP, translation to Japanese of marketing and other materials, coordinating instructions/edits between BD support and other internal teams.
  • Manage legal documentation process and negotiation to reach the agreement smoothly.
  • Work directly with client solutions managers and other client solutions team members on client deliverables and special projects.
  • Work with other departments internally, including investment teams, portfolio management teams, legal, research and reporting, to aggregate information needed to help prepare client deliverables.
  • Coordinate assigned projects and special project work with allocated resources.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of assigned client portfolios and the investments within these portfolios.
  • Respond to client questions and special requests (analyze reports/informational requests), interact with client solutions managers to ensure that the required level of client service is being provided.
  • Assist with other duties and special projects as needed.
  • Learn and maintain a working knowledge of HL technology tools to aggregate and present information needed for client deliverables.

Your background will include:

  •  College degree (B.A., B.S. or B.B.A.)
  • 7+ years of working experience. Working experience should include experience in private markets, financial industry, asset management industry, or other related industry.
  • Native level fluency in Japanese. Business Level fluency in English
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team-environment
  • Capacity to learn, absorb and analyze information quickly
  • Candidate should be detail oriented, responsible, and organized
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications necessary (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
