Job Summary/Purpose The Vice President of Business Development is a senior leadership position responsible for driving strategic growth and operational alignment across all OHI, NHC, and PHC entities, supporting hospice, palliative, and community-based care programs. In collaboration with executive leadership, this role establishes and monitors standard practices for organizational development, ensuring that business development and sales strategies swiftly adapt to changing business needs. Operationally, the VP provides direct oversight to Regional Directors of Business Development and the Director of Admissions and Referrals, while partnering closely with Clinical VPs and the Care Coordination Center. By guiding regional sales teams, optimizing referral-to-admission workflows, and strengthening provider and community relations, the VP of Business Development ensures sustainable census growth aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.

What You Need to Know about the VP of Business Development role:

  • This is a full-time role with the hours of 8AM-5PM. 
  • This role is based out of our location in Dayton, Ohio. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Growth & Market Expansion: 

• Develop and execute an integrated business development plan to increase census and brand visibility. Identify opportunities for new programs, partnerships, service lines, and geographic expansion, while serving as a senior ambassador across hospitals, SNFs, assisted living facilities, physician practices, and other referral sources.

 Team Leadership, Supervision:   

• Provide strategic direction and direct supervision to Regional Business Development leaders, Admissions and Referrals staff, and Community Outreach Liaisons. Manage day-to-day operations, complete annual performance reviews, approve bi-weekly payroll and PTO, evaluate staff during field visits, and handle coaching, mentoring, and precepting of new personnel. 

Admissions, Operations & Technology Innovation:  

 • Oversee the Admissions and Referrals departments, working collaboratively with Care Coordination and Clinical leadership. Evolve admission and referral workflows—incorporating CRM tracking, data analysis, and advanced technology/AI—to optimize the patient experience and ensure efficient territory management.

 Provider Relations & Community Engagement:  

 • Build and maintain trusted, strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, discharge planners, case managers, social workers, and community organizations. Participate in marketing events, committee meetings, and public relations activities to promote organizational goals. 

Goal Setting & Performance Tracking:   

• Collaborate in establishing monthly department and individual referral goals, review team activities, analyze territory trends, and ensure accurate CRM profile maintenance and documentation. 

Quality Assurance:  

 • Communicate changes, new information, and goals effectively through individual check-ins and regular team meetings. Promptly investigate and resolve complaints or grievances from patients, families, and care facilities 

 Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in healthcare management, business administration, or a related field preferred.

 • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in healthcare business development, sales, hospice, home health, post-acute care, or a related sector. 

• Minimum of 2–5 years of management and leadership experience overseeing business development and/or admissions in a healthcare setting. 

• Demonstrated expertise in personnel management, coaching, and team leadership. 

• Strong computer skills, including the ability to effectively document services, communicate across departments, and manage CRM systems.

 • Ability to drive during daytime, nighttime or inclement weather.

 • Valid Driver's License with Safe Driving Record 

• State Minimum Automobile Insurance Coverage
