The FMR LLC Legal Department is seeking to hire a senior attorney to join the Employment Law Team ('ELT'). This team is responsible for all employment law and labor matters across Fidelity’s global financial services and venture investment businesses including advisory, regulatory, internal investigative, employment litigation, the employment aspects of corporate acquisitions and transactions, domestic and international business start-ups and wind-downs, corporate reorganizations, executive compensation, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements enforcement, complex and routine employment litigation and labor relations matters.
The Role
As an experienced employment attorney, you work independently on a variety of advisory, internal investigative and employment litigation matters for specified client groups and business partners. The position requires the application of both a full range of federal, state, and international labor and employment laws as well as diverse securities rules and regulations applicable to employee conduct within Fidelity’s financial services and venture investment businesses.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- J.D. with 7 - 10 years of relevant experience as a practicing attorney in Labor and Employment Law
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws, including those pertaining to employment discrimination and retaliation; accommodations and leaves of absence; wage/hour and payroll; worker classification; whistleblowing; data privacy; reductions in force and job eliminations; workplace injury; credit and criminal checks; waivers of claims
- Litigation experience strongly preferred, particularly experience with FINRA arbitrations related to U-5 filings
- Experience advising employers in financial services would be valuable, however is not required
- Experience advising employers regarding immigration-related matters would be valuable, however is not required
- Ability to advise senior executives and HR business partners on a full range of employment matters
- Demonstrated success in litigating both complex and routine employment and labor matters
- Superior analytical, writing, oral communication, research, investigatory, advocacy, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Exceptional judgment when weighing both legal and business risk

The Team
You will play an important role in advising Fidelity leaders, Human Resources, Employee Relations, Internal Investigations, and others. Your role will be critical to Fidelity's management and resolution of employment issues. You will work closely with a dynamic, highly skilled, and collaborative group of professionals.
The base salary range for this position is $140,000-285,000 USD per year.Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
