ROLE OVERVIEW

As HealthVerity’s Vice President, Associate General Counsel, you will partner with our EVP & General Counsel to evolve our legal, compliance and contracting functions across the recently combined HealthVerity and Symphony Health businesses. You will become the person our sales, partnerships, real world data, people, contracts and privacy and compliance teams turn to first, trusting the legal expertise, clarity and practical judgment you bring to complex issues. You will join HealthVerity at a particularly exciting moment. You will be the second in-house lawyer with regular interactions across our organization and with our executive leadership team as we work to integrate the HealthVerity and Symphony Health businesses. This role offers the rare opportunity to shape both our legal function and the integration from the ground floor, building the culture, process and structure that will drive the combined organization forward for years to come.

WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO

  • Data Licensing and Commercial Contracts: Draft and negotiate healthcare data and software licenses (inbound and outbound), master services agreements and other commercial agreements
  • Privacy: Advise on federal and state laws governing the collection, de-identification, licensing and use of U.S. healthcare and consumer data – and help our commercial teams understand what it all means for our products, services and operations
  • Compliance: Maintain and strengthen our compliance program – think policies, training, risk assessments and audit responses
  • Contracting Workflow: Support our contracts team to improve how we get deals done across contracting processes, escalation paths, template governance, playbook strategy and AI-enabled workflows
  • Commercial Partnerships: Shape how our commercial teams understand and value legal and compliance, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to drive win-win outcomes and build long-standing commercial relationships
  • Culture and Mentorship: Mentor and develop team members as our legal, compliance and contracting functions collaborate to build a culture where people do their best work

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • J.D. with active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 7+ years of combined law firm and in-house experience (healthcare information/technology background a plus)
  • Familiarity with how life sciences and healthcare organizations use de-identified data (you don’t need to be an expert on day one)
  • Experience drafting and negotiating software and data licensing agreements
  • Comfort navigating privacy laws and de-identification standards
  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools across legal, sales ops and finance (prior CLM implementation experience a plus)
  • Experience integrating acquired businesses
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled legal tools and workflows
  • Ability to manage cross-functional demands in a fast-paced environment with collaboration and respect
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to make complex legal issues understandable to non-lawyers while balancing commercial objectives
  • A team-first attitude with humility, empathy and humor

Base salary for the role is commensurate with experience and can range between $265,000 - 325,000 plus annual bonus and equity participation.
