Position Description

PIMCO’s Alternative Funds platform totals approximately $150 billion across multiple strategies and vehicle structures, including evergreen and closed-ended funds.  The Alternatives Funds Finance Team is responsible for end-to-end financial oversight across the platform, including financial accounting and control, investor reporting, tax structuring and compliance, treasury and liquidity management, operations, and oversight of investment partners and third-party service providers.  The team works closely and cross-functionally with Portfolio Management, Product Strategy, Account Management, Legal, Tax, and Operations, and reports into the Executive Office

The Alternative Funds Finance Team is seeking to add a high-caliber, intellectual curious professional with strong investment company and alternative asset accounting experience to the Financial Control team. This individual will be responsible for the financial control and deal execution oversight of a subset of private credit and closed-ended alternatives funds.  Working closely with the existing team, the Alternatives Fund Finance Manager will help design and execute an effective oversight model to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality financial reporting for all internal and external constituents of this fund group.

While this role includes core financial accounting and reporting responsibilities, it is embedded in the investment lifecycle and extends beyond traditional controller activities.  The individual will play an active role in ensuring complex investment activity is appropriately structured, executed, book, and reported accurately, partnering closely with Portfolio Management, Legal, Tax, Treasury, Operations, and third‑party service providers throughout the transaction process.

A significant component of this role involves hands-on oversight of illiquid private investments across a diverse asset class mix, including commercial and residential real estate debt and equity, bank loans, asset-backed and other specialty finance structured products, subordinated debt, and preferred and common equity in privately held companies, as well as fixed income, derivatives, and other unique securities. The role requires a strong understanding of close-ended and hybrid fund structures, including blocker structures, as well as the judgment and influence to operate effectively across numerous stakeholders and concurrent transactions.

As the PIMCO Alternatives business continues to grow and evolve, this is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing, highly collaborative team that sits close to the investment decision-making process and plays a meaningful role in bringing complex transactions to life.
