We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, AI / Machine Learning Data Engineer to join our T&D Engineering team. This role is located in Manchester, UK.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Design, build, and evolve scalable, resilient data platforms and pipelines that enable AI and machine learning use cases across T&D Engineering.
- Act as a senior, hands‑on member of an agile POD, contributing directly to delivery while applying an AI‑first mindset.
- Partner closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, software engineers, and product owners to deliver end‑to‑end data and AI solutions.
- Engineer robust data ingestion, transformation, and serving capabilities using modern data engineering and cloud‑native patterns.
- Ensure high standards for data quality, observability, lineage, and reliability through proactive monitoring and remediation.
- Identify and resolve complex data issues using strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Contribute to T&D Modernization initiatives by influencing technical direction, patterns, and best practices.
- Mentor and support less experienced engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Relevant experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on supporting AI and machine learning workloads.
- Proven experience designing and building scalable data pipelines and platforms.
- Hands‑on experience working in agile delivery environments, ideally within POD‑ or product‑oriented team structures.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to operate effectively in complex and ambiguous environments.
- An AI‑first mindset with a passion for modern engineering practices, continuous improvement, and automation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective work across cross‑functional teams.
