JOB SUMMARY
Venue Supervisors are responsible for overseeing the Estate house, Pavilion, Gazebo, grounds and Carriage House during private rentals. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Manage Estate property during private event rentals and serve as point of contact to catering captain, event planners, vendors and guests during events. Open estate buildings, and prepare for events by putting out event signage, making sure the venue spaces and grounds are event ready.
• Explain procedures and other pertinent information as needed. Provide customer service greeting guests, caterers and vendors. Offer general information about the venue to individuals upon request.
• When requested, light gas fireplaces, set up fans and/or portable outdoor heaters, and open/close electric roller shades when required. Set up tables and chairs for “ceremony only” events and some business meetings.
• Monitor the safety and security of the Estate by enforcing facility rules and GPD policies. Respond to emergency situations following the GPD Emergency Response Plan. Follow proper procedures for reporting any incidents.
• Detect and repair, or, report safety hazards, failures in equipment, hardware and mechanical systems.
• Light maintenance and light custodial work before, during and after events will be expected, including use of leaf blower, rake, broom, mop and, occasionally, light snow shoveling.
• Follow closing procedures and secure facility post-event.
• Assist with Grove-sponsored special events as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent and sufficient physical ability to perform the job including bending, stooping, lifting, climbing stairs and outdoor grounds work. Must have exceptional customer service skills and good judgment to handle situations that may arise during events. The candidate will attend all required meetings & trainings. Prior related work experience preferred. Working weekends is required.
SCHEDULING & PAY
This position is part-time with a higher concentration of hours May-October, with a lighter schedule November-April. This position works approximately 10-20 hours/week, primarily weekends, but also some weekdays. The target hiring wage is $18/hour, depending on qualifications. Shifts scheduled early in the morning or late in the evening will be offered an additional $3/hour.
