Autonomous Vehicle Safety Driver / Vehicle Operator – Austin, TX

We’re hiring Safety Drivers / Vehicle Operators in Austin to support the testing and development of autonomous vehicles and self-driving technology.
No AV experience required — paid training provided.
What You'll Do
- Operate and monitor autonomous vehicles on public roads
- Drive on city streets and highways
- Take control when necessary
- Monitor traffic, pedestrians, and road conditions
- Practice defensive driving and follow traffic laws
- Perform vehicle safety checks
- Document driving events and observations
- Use GPS, navigation apps, smartphones, and mobile technology
- Follow safety procedures and instructions
What We're Looking For
- 1+ year of professional driving experience
- Clean driving record
- Valid U.S. driver's license
- Strong vehicle-control and defensive-driving skills
- Comfortable driving in Austin traffic, highways, and different weather conditions
- Comfortable using GPS and mobile apps
- Reliable, focused, safety-minded, and professional
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Great fit for: Delivery Drivers, Amazon/FedEx Drivers, Route Drivers, Couriers, Rideshare Drivers, Fleet Drivers, Company Drivers, Shuttle Drivers, Bus Drivers, and other professional drivers.
AV, motorsports, ATV, side-by-side, dirt bike, or data-collection experience is a plus, but not required.
Pay & Schedule
$25/hour | Full-time | 40 hours/week | 1-year ongoing contract
Available Shifts:
Tuesday–Saturday: 5:00 AM–1:30 PM, 5:30 AM–2:00 PM, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, 3:30 PM–12:00 AM, or 4:00 PM–12:30 AM
Friday–Monday: 4:30 AM–3:00 PM or 2:30 PM–1:00 AM
Please note: The hiring process includes a DMV-style city/highway driving assessment focused on safe vehicle control, defensive driving, traffic laws, stops, turns, lane changes, and situational awareness.

Skills Required
- At least 3 years of U.S. driving experience with a valid driver's license
- Clean driving record (no DUIs or drug/alcohol offenses in the past 5 years)
- Ability to drive safely under all road and weather conditions
- Familiarity with Austin traffic laws and routes
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Experience in autonomous vehicle operation, driving instruction, motorsports, app driving or IT technical troubleshooting
