TEAM

The AD/ADAS group is developing a scalable, data-driven approach to autonomous and assisted driving. Our US Vehicle Operations Team conducts vehicle testing in California and Michigan supporting Woven by Toyota's Personally Owned Vehicle (POV) and Mobility as a Service (MaaS) programs. Team members are safety ambassadors, ensuring prototype vehicles are operated safely on closed courses and public roads. The data and testing feedback gathered from our operators is critical to accelerating vehicle development.


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Our Ann Arbor Vehicle Operations Team is looking for a Vehicle Operations Specialist that is passionate about safety and quality of vehicle development. Our Vehicle Operations Specialist will be responsible for driving autonomous vehicle platforms on various public and private roads in order to obtain data and troubleshoot technical issues. The Vehicle Operations Specialist is a valuable contributor, providing necessary feedback to our engineering team in order to advance this cutting-edge technology.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Toyota's high standard of safety, inside and outside of the vehicles
  • Consistently demonstrate situational awareness, and understanding of the technology in his/her care, and a willingness to constantly adjust to changes in the environment
  • Conduct a variety of critical data collection for our engineering teams using complex proprietary software and hardware, and communicate through multiple channels
  • Be self-motivated and demonstrate good judgment that requires minimal supervision throughout the workday in order to thrive in fast-paced, high-stress environments
  • Be an ambassador for the technology by communicating professionally and courteously at all times with management, engineers, and members of the public
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and provide training and mentorship to other drivers
  • Maintain, organize and distribute operational documents to relevant team members

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid US driver's license with at least 7 years of driving experience and a clean driving record (DMV record will be obtained)
  • BA/BS degree, any field; or, demonstrated communication, analytic, mathematical, and reasoning skills consistent with a BA/BS degree; or previous autonomous testing experience
  • Proficient computer skills, including basic troubleshooting with the ability to utilize proprietary tools
  • Subject to pre-employment drug screening, DMV and criminal checks, and random drug screening
  • Must be able to demonstrate safe driving in all weather conditions, including snow

NICE TO HAVES

  • One to two years of Autonomous Driving experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle, software/hardware/system testing methods, and continuous integration
  • Experience working in a highly talented R&D or engineering environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and implement new concepts
