Department Overview
• Ensuring that vehicle subscriber equipment installations are fully compliant with the respective vehicle installation designs.
• Ensure that installations are robust and of high standard in order to minimize vehicle installation repairs and maximize operational reliability throughout the service life.
• To provide first line day to day site representation for matters relating to vehicle installations.
• To support vehicle installation designs and documentation for subscriber equipment as required
Job Description

•    Primary responsibility is to inspect vehicles to ensure that vehicle systems are installed in conformance with the relevant vehicle installation designs and configuration requirements and ensure that installations are robust and of high quality standard. 
•    Act as the Motorola Solutions site representative and coordinator for day to day matters relating to vehicle installations and de-installations.
•    Ensure that the installation contractors follow the relevant processes and procedures including submitting the required documentation for each installation and de-installation 
•    Ensure that installation contractors provide the required vehicle and asset information to Motorola in the prescribed manner.
•    Ensure that all vehicles are de-installed in a manner that recovers all required equipment without damage.
•    Ensure regular detailed vehicle installation audits are conducted to maintain the integrity of installations in hidden areas of vehicles.  
•    Perform final commissioning and testing on installed equipment to ensure it is working to the required specifications.
•    Provide first line support for diagnosing and where possible correcting installation or equipment configuration related issues in vehicle installations.
•    Support the subscriber equipment vehicle installation designs and design documentation as required.
•    Ensuring design includes suitable mechanical securing of equipment, cable routing and connections, antenna placement and power connection.
•    Ensuring designs consider human factors such as ergonomics, Australian Design Rules (ADR) and OH&S
•    Identify technical and other issues or improvements for the completion of vehicle installations.
•    Escalate technical and operations issues that cannot be adequately resolved on-site to the relevant personnel.
•    Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and installation contractors at the various vehicle installation worksites. 
•    Provide monthly inspection reports and data.
•    Additional support as required for fixed station terminals and other subscriber equipment.
•    The following activities will involve travelling to designated customer sites within Victoria as part of an on-call roster:
o    Assist the vehicle installation and customer support technicians to identify and resolve subscriber equipment related issues in vehicles.
o    Perform quality assurance checks and provide ongoing training and feedback to customer support technicians.
o    Replenishment of spare subscriber equipment at the designated customer sites within required time frames to meet SLAs.
o    Restoring service to Motorola WiFi devices with remote support from Operations Engineers.
o    Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and subcontractors at the various worksites. 
o    The On Call Roster for travelling out to customer sites within Victoria will be primarily within business hours but may require overnight stays – this can be next business day or scheduled within 2 weeks.
o    The rostered travel will be 1 week out of 3 or 2 weeks out of 6.
o    Motorola will provide a work vehicle for this purpose. Monthly checks on the vehicle will be required to ensure it is clean, free of visible defects and up to date with service intervals.
•    Achieve timelines while maintaining high quality standards.
•    Maintain a neat and orderly facility.
•    Inspection work may be required to be performed at locations other than the primary site.
•    Must be prepared to work overtime as required
•    Comply with Motorola Quality policies and practices
 


Basic Requirements

Education & Qualifications            

Desirable:                    

  • Trade or post school qualifications in an automotive related field
  • Studies in Automotive Engineering and Customer Service

Professional Experience

Essential:

           

  • Experience or internship in the automotive industry

Desirable:                    

  • Experience with design, quality assurance or installation of electronic equipment into vehicles
  • Previous experience with radio equipment installation in commercial or emergency services fleets.
