If you know your way around vehicle damage, repairs, estimating and valuations, this could be your next opportunity.

As a Vehicle Image Damage Assessor at Copart, you’ll use your industry knowledge and technical expertise to assess damaged vehicles from images and information, preparing accurate engineer’s reports for insurance companies.

You’ll be making informed decisions about damage, repair requirements, vehicle values and salvage categories — so your eye for detail and understanding of vehicles really matters.

You’ll work from home, with occasional travel to Copart Head Office in Wootton, Bedfordshire or one of our Operation Centres when required.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assessing vehicle damage using images, documentation and available vehicle information.

  • Preparing accurate and detailed engineer’s reports for insurance companies.

  • Interpreting the extent of damage and understanding potential repair methods and consequences.

  • Researching vehicle values, considering mileage, condition, previous damage, HPI information and other relevant factors.

  • Assigning salvage categories in line with the ABI Code of Practice and Copart guidelines.

  • Using estimating and valuation systems to support accurate assessments.

  • Reviewing and amending vehicle information and reports where necessary.

  • Working to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.

  • Keeping up to date with vehicle damage, repair methods, valuations and relevant industry requirements.

You’ll receive full training on Copart’s internal systems and report-writing processes, so you can get up to speed with how we work.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who already has solid experience in vehicle damage assessment, estimating or a similar motor industry role.

You’ll have:

  • Proven body shop estimating experience.

  • Strong knowledge of motor vehicles, different types of damage and repair methods.

  • Experience using computerised repair estimating systems.

  • Good knowledge of estimating and valuation tools such as Glass’s, CAP, Audatex and HPI.

  • Knowledge of VDA.

  • An understanding of insurance claims procedures and the information requirements for different claim types.

  • Knowledge of basic legal vehicle roadworthiness requirements under the Road Traffic Act.

  • The ability to accurately interpret vehicle damage from images and supporting information.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A high level of attention to detail.

  • Good Microsoft Office skills.

  • Membership of, or willingness to enrol with, a relevant professional body such as MIMI, IAEA or IRTE.

Why Copart?

You’ll be joining a global leader in vehicle remarketing and recycling, working alongside people who know the automotive industry inside out.

This is a role where your existing vehicle knowledge really counts. You’ll have the autonomy of working remotely, while being part of a wider team supporting insurers and helping to make informed decisions about damaged vehicles.

If you’re an experienced vehicle estimator or damage assessor looking for a role where you can put your expertise to good use — we’d love to hear from you.

Please note: The essential skills and experience outlined above are required for this role. Applications that do not demonstrate these requirements are unable to be progressed.
