Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Rail Vehicle Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment.  The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of engineering tasks from administrative to strategic.  The position is based in Oakland, California.

Accountabilities:

• Ensure the assessment of the Vehicle Design in order to achieve full integration with other sub-systems and components;                                                                                                                              
• Ensure the monitoring of Vehicle production and testing process in order to control key factors affecting interfaces and system performances. 
• Execute the Verification activities of Vehicle interface documents, according to the V&V Plan
• Participate to on site tests relevant to the vehicle Integration (e.g. advice to issue resolution)
• Contribute to the functional requirements fulfilment in Design and Testing phase and to the resolution of the interfaces among the sub-systems mainly involving vehicle providing detailed 
• description of the main integrated functions as well as main operating scenarios.
   

Required Skills:
•   3- 5 years' experience in onboard equipment installation and testing. 
•    Knowledge in onboard equipment installation and testing, in particular in electrical wiring, functional scheme review and mechanical installation.
•    Ability to work in a complex project and team-work skills.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering or 
Information Technology or Equivalent Technical Background

Languages:
English-Proficient 

In accordance with the DOT’s FRA and FTA programs, Hitachi’s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.

The salary range for this position is $108,000- $162,000 per year.  Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity and location.
