- The Virtual Desktop Engineer II provides advanced and innovative infrastructure solutions to enhance Hoag’s virtual, physical, remote, cloud and mobile environment standards enterprise wide.
- Performs adequate testing and planning to deliver with the highest standards of quality and to secure high availability; also responsible for systems optimization, monitoring, and proactive maintenance while keeping systems in compliance with security, entitlement, and performance requirements.
- Assists with process improvement and develops and maintains accurate, updated documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Works in cross-functional teams on complex issue resolution, project planning, and implementations.
- Applies experience with virtual hypervisors, cloud environments, monitoring, patching, updates, and Windows virtual technologies to support end-user updates.
- Supports patching, antivirus, profile management, user-experience monitoring, performance improvements, software packaging, and encryption efforts.
- Provides technical expertise to evaluate, install, and maintain both hardware and software (e.g., scanner/printer certifications and Tap-to-Print solutions).
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues and utilizes VMware, UMS, Citrix XenApp, and XenDesktop virtual technologies to support VDI implementations.
- Manages and administers a virtual application delivery platform for 2,500+ user sessions.
- Defines and maintains the enterprise desktop image.
- Performs troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Partners with technology leads and Enterprise Infrastructure Engineers to monitor peak-use capacities, ensure high availability and remote access services, and support capacity-planning roadmaps.
- Participates in evaluating new desktop-delivery technologies and applications, including evaluation, design, installation, configuration, upgrades, testing, documentation, and expansion to support VDI deployments.
- Participates in a 24×7 on-call rotation for escalations and works independently.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School or GED required
- A minimum of 3 years experience required or demonstrated equivalent skill level
- Experience providing advanced desktop engineering support in Windows, and high VDI Administrator level support, preferably in healthcare
- Scripting experience with Batch Files and Windows PowerShell
- Proficient/expert with MS Suite, Outlook, automating tasks with Windows PowerShell, and SCCM
- Experience with SCCM, AD, Packaging, Disk Encryption, Patching, Endpoint Security, Management, Cloud management services Microsoft 365, Igel UMS
- Enterprise Device Management, Cloud management services, Microsoft 365, FSLogix, UMS, Citrix, Imprivata
- Automating tasks with Windows PowerShell, SCCM and Intune
- Associate or related technical field or equivalent work experience
- Ability to perform technical documentation of code and procedures
- Experience working in an acute hospital environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience in a related field
