Job Description:
We’re hiring a talented Senior Software Engineer to help us deliver exceptional development and build tools. As an engineer in the VCenter Developer Tools team, you will be responsible for developing the next generation of tools to improve developers’ efficiency and productivity and implementing processes to improve the quality of the products. Alongside a talented team of software engineers, you will evolve our developer infrastructure and tooling to be robust, high performing and delightful at large scale. You will help define the quarterly and long-term roadmaps for the team ensuring that we stay ahead of technological trends and future demands.
Requirements:
• Strong passion for making developers highly productive.
• Bachelor's degree and 12+ years industry experience OR Master's degree and 10+ years industry experience
• 5+ years developing tools for large monorepo-based codebases.
• A track record of flawless technical execution.
• Excellent problem solving skills, and strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience working with modern build systems such as Bazel, Buck, Gradel, etc.
• Fluency in Java, C++, Python or Go.
• Ability to work in a team environment, collaborate well, and mentor junior engineers.
• A strategic mindset and strong sense of what to prioritize for maximum impact.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Outstanding written and oral English language skills.
• Ability to work on-site at our Palo Alto, CA office
Additional Skills
• Experience with Bazel/Blaze and its internals.
• Experience with the Bazel production ecosystem (e.g. optimizing for remote execution and caching, authoring custom build rules, managing the lifecycle of external build rules).
• Experience with the integration between Bazel and IDEs such as IntelliJ and VSCode.
• Experience with IntelliJ plugin development.
• Experience with CI/CD Platforms (e.g. GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, gitlab).
• Experience working on enterprise-scale build systems.
• Experience with shell scripting (e.g. bash) and Linux automation.
• Unix system administration or operations experience.
• Comfortable working with macOS and Windows are pluses.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $141,000 - $225,000.
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
