VAT/TAX Manager

WHAT WILL YOU EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

- Manages the indirect tax compliance in achieving its accountabilities including the preparation and timely filing of the monthly, quarterly and yearly VAT declarations, Intrastat for Arrivals and Dispatches, EC Sales Lists and EC - -Purchase Lists for the entities within scope for the center. 

- Provide Indirect Tax Technical advice to the Global Business Units (‘GBU’) covering Europe indirect taxes

- With a full understanding of the business supply chains is able to provide advice and support on any business changes, projects and systems updates which mitigate Indirect Tax risk and supports the business in as tax efficient manner as possible.

- Continually review the way that Indirect Tax is managed to ensure that any savings and efficiencies are identified and processes changed to continually improve.  Ensure that VAT leakage is kept to an absolute minimum.

- Work closely with the Trade Compliance team to ensure that global trade and Indirect Tax rules work in a harmonized way and any divergence in the rules are identified and dealt with to keep disruption to trade to a minimum.

- Continue to improve and strengthen the current indirect tax procedures and processes in place to ensure compliance with the indirect tax regulations

- Provide indirect tax technical support to Controllers, Sales and any other internal groups as required including attending meetings with those groups on a regular basis to discuss the business and any proposed changes and to provide training on the impact of Indirect Taxes on the supply chain

- Manage the Indirect Tax Audits liaising with the Country Tax Authorities and dealing quickly with any audit requests received.

- Ensure full compliance with indirect tax legislation

- Ensure  that any changes to the legislation are identified and any changes implemented to maintain compliance including but not limited to the following:

- Ensure correct application of VAT on customer invoices

- Ensure correct application of reverse charge VAT

- Ensure that the AP processors are supported to allow the correct manual selection of VAT codes on AP invoice postings

- Coordinate claim-back of foreign VAT if applicable

- Ensure VAT on bad debt is claimed back in timely manner

- Ensuring timely reconciliation of VAT accounts for all in scope countries

- Work on various projects as required

- Provide ad-hoc analysis and advice as required

- Ensure that VAT receivables are repaid in a timely manner and ensure all payments are made by due dates with no exposure to late payment penalties and interest

- Ensure end-to-end reconciliation of the VAT balances in the general ledger and review Blackline reconciliations with timely clearing of the VAT accounts and ensuring that any journals are made in a timely manner.

- Maintain and monitor the effectiveness of indirect tax controls needed for compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

- Ensure that any reviews by internal or external auditors do not have any significant deficiencies

Required Skills and Abilities:

- 5+ years relevant working experience in VAT from a multinational company or consultancy

- Good MS Office Skills and ERP systems

- Experience with indirect tax digital platforms for comprehensive data preparation, reporting and transaction processing to tax authorities, EY GVRT would be a plus

- Knowledge and experience in GST, SUT and all similar taxes globally would be a plus
