A new VAT Specialist position has arisen at Prologis’ European HQ in Amsterdam. In this role you will be a member of our dynamic and international European VAT team. In Europe we are operating in Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Luxembourg, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Poland which total to around ~1,000 VAT registered entities.
Prologis is pursuing every opportunity to streamline its organization and VAT processes. Your focus on continuous process improvement in Indirect Tax activities is expected as well as close cooperation with our Compliance team. As our Compliance team is very international with ten compliance members located in the regions and another twelve members located in Amsterdam, we are looking for a new team member who can bring a great set of communication skills, confidence and professional knowledge to the team.
Aside from the daily operational activities, you will be joining several projects, that ultimately drive efficiencies. We are currently undergoing a transformation of becoming more innovative and digital, which is partly driven by the new statutory requirements from the countries. Think of real time reporting, e-invoicing and several other projects. Are you a determined professional who’s looking for a new challenging step in a highly international environment? What’s needed in order to do that:
- Preparing and reviewing indirect tax returns (VAT, Intrastat, EC Listings, Local Sales and Purchase listing, Foreign VAT claims)
- Coordinating indirect tax return submissions with 3rd party service provider
- Reviewing and reconciling GL accounts, including proposal of adjusting entries
- Communicating externally with local authorities throughout Europe
- Monitor compliance matters (review of VAT assessments, VAT payments, VAT refunds, audits)
- Work closely with colleagues in Tax, Finance, Business, Legal and IT
- Initiate, coordinate and maintain indirect tax compliance processes
- Work closely with Tax team on due diligence activities in acquisition and dispositions deals
- Involvement in PeopleSoft PUM upgrades by testing and detecting possible deficiencies
- Driving major VAT enhancement projects (pro rata calculation, cash-based VAT reporting)

- Financial/Accounting (HBO/BSc/MSc) education
- 5+ years experience in a similar role
- VAT Compliance Background
- Strong Excel skills
- You are accurate and have a hands-on mentality
- You are a team player, energetic and a problem solver
- You have strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- You are well organized and result oriented
- Experience with Partial Exemption would be a plus
- Excellent command of English, knowledge of any of the languages where we operate
- PeopleSoft experience is a plus
- Affinity with (new) technology
