VAT AnalystJob Description Summary
The VAT Analyst is responsible for supporting VAT compliance and reporting processes across the EMEA region. Key duties include preparing and reviewing VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, and Intrastat reports; ensuring adherence to local VAT regulations; assisting with audits and tax authority inquiries; and maintaining accurate VAT documentation. The role involves collaboration with internal departments and external advisors, as well as identifying opportunities for process improvements. A foundational understanding of European VAT principles, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in relevant financial systems are essential. This role would report to the Global Captive Center COE, working closely with the EMEA VAT Senior Manager.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
VAT Compliance Support:
- Assist in the preparation and review of VAT returns across the EMEA region.
- Coordinate with external advisors and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Help maintain accurate records of VAT registrations and related documentation.
Data and Systems Maintenance:
- Support the maintenance and update of VAT codes in internal systems (e.g., WDY, YARDI).
- Assist in testing system changes and updates related to VAT processes.
Payments and Reconciliations:
- Support the processing of VAT payments and refunds.
- Assist in the VAT reconciliation process, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
Audit and Inquiries:
- Provide documentation and support during VAT audits and tax authority inquiries.
- Help gather and organize data required for audit responses.
Training and Communication:
- Participate in VAT training sessions and workshops.
- Provide basic VAT guidance to Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams under supervision.
Intercompany Transactions:
- Assist in reviewing intercompany billing transactions to ensure correct VAT treatment.
Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with finance and technology teams on VAT-related improvement initiatives.
