Role Summary
The Value Proposition - Technical Business Development Engineer supports the global FACTS value proposition, with primary focus on STATCOM solutions and selected variable series compensation applications in North America.
The role bridges technology, market needs, and customer applications across grid following, grid forming, and grid forming with energy storage STATCOM solutions, contributing to the technical positioning and opportunity shaping early in the commercial lifecycle with a clear eye from marketing angle too.
The position supports transmission utilities addressing grid stability needs and also private developers, including large data center customers, addressing both system level grid stability requirements and rapidly evolving large load connection needs.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Technical Business Development
- Support early‑stage technical engagement including presentation for FACTS opportunities worldwide, with a key focus to NAM region.
- Contributes to translating customer grid challenges into clear technical value propositions.
- Support application and solution positioning ahead of formal tendering activities.
- Provide application‑level technical support to regional sales and business development teams.
- Proactive enthusiasm for bringing solutions to customers and helping evolve products and processes “at the pace the market demands” is an added plus.
Applications & Markets
- Support grid stability applications for transmission system operators.
- Contribute to system‑level discussions on voltage control, frequency regulation, and dynamic grid performance supporting grid stability.
- Support data center and large load applications for private developers.
FACTS Technology Positioning
- Support positioning of grid‑following, grid‑forming, and grid‑forming with energy storage STATCOM solutions.
- Support hybrid FACTS applications, including STATCOM combined with synchronous condensers.
- Contribute to application support and positioning for SSSC (Static Synchronous Series Compensator) solutions.
- Ensure consistency of technical messaging across regions and customer segments.
Value Proposition Development
- Support development of customer‑facing technical narratives and application messaging.
- Contribute presentations, technical notes, and internal guidance material.
- Support training of sales and tendering teams on FACTS applications.
- Any developing “new” requirements must be captured and brought to the product management requirement process for consideration into the next NPI cycle.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work with Solution Line System Engineering, Controls, NPI, and other GE Vernova teams such as the Advanced Research Center and Consulting Services.
- Interface with regional commercial teams to support ongoing market pursuits.
- Provide structured market and application feedback to support product alignment.
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in power systems, FACTS devices, STATCOM, synchronous condensers, or series compensation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to communicate technical concepts and FACTS value drivers confidently, lucidly and succinctly to the larger audiences.
- Power system modelling tools usage will be an added advantage.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
