We currently have a career opportunity for a Java Technical Lead to join our team located in Montevideo.
Work Arrangement: Please note that this role operates on a hybrid model. The successful candidate will be required to work on-site from our office located in the World Trade Center in Montevideo three times a week.

As a Technical Lead, you will drive and oversee all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including high-level architectural design, complex implementation, technical documentation, testing strategies, deployment, and production support. Operating in a collaborative global environment, you will bridge the gap between solution architects and the engineering team, providing technical direction, mentoring developers, and ensuring the delivery of scalable, future-proof applications for our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and Lead: Drive the design, development, and evolution of scalable backend systems using modern Java (Java 21+) and Spring Boot 3+.

  • Technical Mentorship: Mentor and guide senior, mid, and junior developers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and collaborative problem-solving.

  • System Architecture: Design and optimize cloud-native microservices, serverless components, and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with Solution Architects, Product Managers, and QA leadership to translate business objectives into technical strategies and high-quality solutions.

  • Quality & Standards: Establish and enforce best practices for code quality, security (DevSecOps), and testing. Lead complex code reviews and architecture discussions.

  • Performance & Observability: Optimize application performance, scalability, and resilience. Define and monitor system observability (telemetry, distributed tracing, metrics).

  • Pipeline & Automation: Oversee, maintain, and innovate CI/CD pipelines, integrating modern AI-assisted development workflows and automated deployment strategies.

  • Knowledge Management: Document complex technical solutions, drive technical debt reduction, and actively contribute to knowledge sharing across the global organization.

 

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership or architectural role.

  • Deep expertise in the modern Java ecosystem (Java 17/21+) and comprehensive knowledge of Spring Boot 3, Spring Cloud, and Spring Security.

  • Proven track record of designing, building, and scaling distributed systems and microservices architectures.

  • Strong proficiency in containerization, orchestration (Docker, advanced Kubernetes), and cloud-native infrastructure.

  • Expertise with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and related managed services.

  • Solid experience with modern SQL and NoSQL databases, including performance tuning and data modeling.

  • Experience with advanced CI/CD tools, GitOps practices, and modern observability platforms (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).

  • Familiarity with incorporating AI coding assistants and integrating LLM-based features into enterprise systems is a strong plus.

  • Exceptional bilingual communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Expert understanding of Agile methodologies and leading Agile engineering squads.
