Role Summary:

The UX/UI Designer is the strategist who turns Gesa's brand and visual identity into a digital experience members can actually use. This role takes the look, voice, and visual system that Brand defines and decides how it shows up in the structure, flow, and interaction of online banking, the public website, digital applications, and marketing email, from a first click to a finished application, and every day after. The designer sets the point of view for how a path should work, backs it with research and data, and proves it out through a clickable Figma prototype that product, development, and marketing can build from. Working closely with Brand, Digital Transformation, Web, Marketing Cloud, and Compliance, they turn the brand system into the experience members easily move through.

What You Will Be Doing:
  1. Set the information architecture and interaction strategy for each priority path and surface, deciding how Gesa's brand and visual identity should show up in structure and flow, not just in individual screens
  2. Design the look and interaction of each screen, including visual hierarchy and typography, from first idea through to a design others can build
  3. Keep a clickable Figma prototype of the digital experience current, so the team always has a shared, working view to design and build from
  4. Build and grow Figma component libraries from the design system Brand defines, and invite a better pattern when a new problem needs one
  5. Set the strategic point of view for the words members see on buttons, labels, and prompts, using behavioral-economics research to make the right choice the easiest one to understand
  6. Bring a journey-optimization lens to the priority paths: collaborate with the Voice of the Member team, run simple usability tests, and use qualitative feedback plus conversion and drop-off data to find where a path underperforms and which fix is worth making first
  7. Run design QA/QC on shipped experiences to confirm they match the design, and check whether the path got simpler
  8. Build the systems and workflows that make rapid, AI-enabled prototyping possible for the whole team
  9. Partner day to day with Digital Transformation’s product and development teams, and with Brand, Web, Marketing Cloud, and Compliance. Design to the accessibility, disclosure, and privacy requirements, and look for simpler ways to meet them
  10. Review design and interaction on new internal and commercial software interfaces the organization adopts or customizes, applying the same usability and accessibility standards used on member-facing paths, in partnership with Digital Product owners
  11. Present design work, prototypes, and the thinking behind them to product, development, marketing, and leadership stakeholders to build alignment and inform decisions
  12. Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and Credit Union policies and procedures

About You:
  1. Ability to translate a brand and visual identity into an information architecture and interaction strategy that holds together across surfaces, not just a set of on-brand screens
  2. Strong UX/UI craft: how information is organized, how screens and email templates behave, how they look, and how a prototype clicks
  3. A point of view on how Gesa's digital experience should work, grounded in research and data, that you bring to Brand, product, and leadership as a peer perspective rather than execute from a brief
  4. Ability to write and advise on the words members see on screens, with care for required legal language
  5. Ability to apply the brand system
  6. Ability to plan and run lightweight research and usability tests, and to tell the story of what you learned
  7. Ability to read funnel and behavioral data (drop-off, conversion, completion) well enough to find where a design change would help most, and to make a data-backed case for prioritizing it
  8. Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and designing for phones as well as desktops
  9. Ability to partner with teams across the organization (product, development, copywriting, and compliance) without taking on their jobs
  10. Ability to design inside the limits of a vendor platform, and to name the limit when it is the problem
  11. Clear, warm written and verbal communication
  12. Good judgment with approved tools, including AI assistants
  13. Ability to present design decisions and rationale clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
QualificationsWhat You Will Need:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in UX design, interaction design, visual communications, HCI, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  2. Minimum of four (4) years of professional UX/UI design experience shipping digital products or marketing sites
  3. A portfolio of case studies that show process and a shipped result, not visual design alone, including at least one clickable prototype and one multi-step journey or apply path.
  4. Proficient experience with Figma, with experience in building component libraries, auto-layout structures, and clickable prototypes ready for product, development, and marketing to build from
  5. Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience with web design principles, responsive layouts, and accessibility standards
  6. Financial services, banking, or credit union experience is preferred
  7. Some travel is required for training, to fulfill duties, and for career development
