About the Role
We are looking for a User Experience Research intern for the summer of 2025. Uber Freight offers interns a deep learning experience and a hands-on opportunity to investigate actual core user issues and offer solutions for our product, design, and engineering teams to build into the roadmap. You will learn how to operate in a high velocity environment, leading a real project from start to finish – at the end of the internship, you’ll present your findings and recommendations to a team of leaders for consideration. We believe the best way to learn is to do, and we strive to create an incredible experience that teaches the Uber way of building products in an accelerated fashion.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Conduct qualitative research (user studies, interviews, ethnography, secondary research) on multiple aspects of how users experience Uber Freight products
- Plan, and execute actionable research that meets stakeholder objectives and needs
- Present research findings and recommendations to project stakeholders through written reports and oral presentations, and demonstrate impact
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to quickly develop recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative evidence
- Work with the core UX teams to turn user insights into actionable recommendations
- Strong capability to gain the trust of teams and show the benefit of research
- Answer stakeholder questions and represent the findings uncovered during research
- You get personalized coaching and will learn how to conduct UXR from seasoned researchers, including study construction, script writing, moderation best practices, synthesis techniques, deck creation, and effective presentation storytelling.
- You experience a full product design cycle, including both practicing research and influencing design decisions in a single internship
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Speculative Design, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science or related field or equivalent practical experience
- 0-2 years of prior work experience in some type of research setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
- Organized, detail oriented and able to work independently on multiple projects at once
- Excellent assessment and analysis skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with office productivity tools including email, artificial intelligence platforms, web apps, spreadsheets/word processors/slides (Google or Microsoft apps)
- Strong interest in and familiarity with technology products
- Shows design aptitude and understands design fundamentals
- Self-starter, taking initiative to keep relevant partners in the loop
- Quantitative skills are a plus

For California Based Roles: The salary range for this role is $35/hour.
