POSITION SUMMARY:
The UX Designer at Bass Pro Shops is instrumental in crafting exceptional mobile-first user experiences for the company's digital initiatives. Leveraging their expertise in responsive design and user research, this role is responsible for delivering intuitive wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity designs. The UX Designer plays a pivotal role in collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to translate user needs and business goals into impactful design solutions, while contributing to the enhancement of internal tools and processes. Through continuous professional development and a commitment to design excellence, the UX Designer ensures that every interaction customers have with Bass Pro Shops is both engaging and accessible.
This role is fully onsite at Bass Pro Shops Base Camp offices in Springfield, Missouri
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Deliver user-centered, mobile first research and design for company initiatives (40%)
Create and deliver responsive, mobile first design solutions through creation of wireframes, mockups, or high-fidelity designs that effectively communicate layouts, interfaces, interactions, and workflows
Incorporate basic research and user testing methods and activities into workflows to inform design work
Exhibit an effective individual working process, self-managing priorities, ways of working and taking action proactively
Meet all defined deadlines and milestones for project work
Effectively collaborate, communicate, and support cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives (40%)
Collaborate with cross-functional team members, including designers, researchers, developers, business analysts, product owners, and project managers to support work on defined initiatives
Work with collaborators to define and understand design requirements, limitations, and technical implications of work
Deliver accurate, clear, and easy-to-understand project deliverables, communications, and documentation as needed
Share and present project work to collaborators and teams for review, feedback, and revision
Utilize and contribute to Internal Tools, Processes, systems, and goals (15%)
Correctly utilize team processes, systems, and procedures for project and team work (user journeys, personas, UX KPIs)
Participate in and actively contributes to the ongoing improvement of internal team processes, systems, culture, and practices
Effectively utilize and contribute components to the Bass Pro, Cabela’s, and White River Marine Group design systems, standards, and pattern libraries
Advance personal and professional expertise through individual development efforts (5%)
Proactively maintain a personal growth plan by learning new skills, staying abreast of industry innovations, and exploring opportunities for professional development
All other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Degree:
Bachelor's or graduate degree in relevant field such as User Experience Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Information Sciences, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, or a related discipline
or equivalent relevant working experience
Preferred Certificate(s) or License(s):
Professional certifications such as Neilsen Norman Group (NN/g) UX Certification, Interaction Design Foundation (IDF) UX Design Certification, Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) by Human Factors international (HFI), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
Other UX design trainings or bootcamp programs such as Google UX Design Professional Certificate, General Assembly UX Design Immersive Certificate
Previous Experience:
3-5 years of working UX design experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Proficiency with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or related technologies
Strong writing, verbal communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
Experience applying research insights and user data into designs
Able to meet project deadlines and accomplish tasks with minimal oversight
A solid grasp of mobile, web, and native platform design patterns and conventions
Knowledge of best practices for web accessibility
Knowledge of HTML/CSS a plus
Understanding of design systems and shared standards
Hands-on experience conducting research and testing to inform design decisions
Experience delivering high quality design artifacts like user journeys, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes
A design portfolio demonstrating 2-3 projects demonstrating design skills, UX expertise, and outlining design and research process
