Verona was founded by two serial entrepreneurs Mr. Poshak Agrawal and Mr. Rahul Subramaniam, and backed by some of the biggest names in global technology, such as Mr. Michael Novogratz (ex-Fortress Investment Group, CEO of Galaxy Group Investments) & Mr. Rishi Jaitly (ex-Twitter CEO for Asia, Middle East, and Africa). 

Security and Science make the basis of Verona where before matchmaking there will be Fintech-grade authentication to ensure fraud detection. Through a deep appreciation for the science of compatibility, with Verona, we will be using AI for matchmaking based on an individual's core & shared values.

Role Brief:

As Verona's UI/UX Design Lead, you will drive the design vision and strategy for our premium matchmaking platform, ensuring a seamless, user-centric experience. From user research to final prototypes, you'll lead the design process end-to-end, collaborating closely with product, development, and marketing teams. This role is integral to shaping Verona’s brand identity and creating intuitive, visually engaging interfaces that elevate the user journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design Strategy & Vision
  • Define and drive a cohesive UI/UX vision aligned with Verona’s brand, focusing on creating a premium and accessible user experience.
  • Lead design thinking sessions and collaborative workshops with cross-functional teams to generate innovative ideas, identify pain points, and enhance user journeys.
  • Develop a clear design strategy that addresses business goals while prioritizing user needs, ensuring alignment with Verona’s overall product roadmap.
  • Establish and enforce design guidelines, including typography, color schemes, and interactive elements, to maintain brand consistency across all interfaces.
  1. UI/UX Design & Execution
  • Create wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity prototypes that offer intuitive navigation and a smooth user experience from onboarding to advanced features.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive design system, establishing reusable components, UI patterns, and design libraries to streamline development and ensure a consistent experience across platforms.
  • Continuously refine designs based on feedback and data insights, ensuring high usability and aesthetic quality.
  • Oversee the visual quality of all UI elements and interactions, making adjustments to layouts, animations, and micro-interactions to enhance engagement and retention.
  1. User Research & Insights
  • Plan and conduct in-depth user research, including interviews, surveys, and observational studies, to gain insights into user needs, behaviors, and pain points.
  • Conduct usability testing for new designs and prototypes to identify friction points, interpret user feedback, and make informed design decisions.
  • Use data analytics, heatmaps, and user feedback tools to track user engagement and retention, translating insights into actionable design improvements.
  • Regularly present research findings and design rationale to stakeholders, building a shared understanding of user needs and design decisions.
  1. Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with product managers to align on feature priorities, user stories, and design requirements that support business objectives and deliver value to users.
  • Collaborate with developers throughout the design and implementation stages, ensuring design specifications are accurately translated into the final product.
  • Partner with the marketing and content teams to align on visual storytelling and messaging that resonates with Verona’s target audience and enhances the brand experience.
  • Act as the main design liaison, facilitating communication between design, product, and tech teams, and addressing any roadblocks to ensure smooth project delivery.
  1. Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Mentor and guide junior designers, providing feedback, setting goals, and promoting best practices in user-centered design.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages innovation, constructive critique, and knowledge sharing within the design team.
  • Lead regular design reviews, offering constructive feedback and coaching to refine design outputs and support skill development among team members.
  • Stay updated with the latest design trends, tools, and UX best practices, inspiring the team to continuously evolve and improve.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3-4 years in UI/UX design, with experience leading projects or a team.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD; strong grasp of design systems, responsive design, and accessibility standards.
  • Portfolio: A portfolio that showcases user-centered design, problem-solving, and visually impactful projects.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills; detail-oriented with a user-first approach to problem-solving.
