About the Role
We’re looking for a hybrid User Experience Engineer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, dual-discipline role—perfect for someone who loves both designing in Figma and building in code. You’ll play a key role in shaping the user experience from early concepts to polished implementation, contributing to everything from design systems to deployment. This is a great opportunity to build an in-house practice with wide access to stakeholders across all teams. Your work will have a direct impact with Pagaya's growth journey.
Responsibilities
- Design intuitive, engaging UI/UX for web and mobile using Figma
- Build responsive, performant front-end experiences with Next.js, React, and V0.dev
- Contribute to and maintain scalable design systems using Tailwind CSS
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—product, engineering, content—to deliver cohesive user experiences
- Integrate your work with a range of CMS platforms such as WordPress, Webflow, Builder.io, and/or Storyblock.
- Support site builds and optimization on WPEngine and Vercel
- Follow and apply website compliance standards (accessibility, performance, SEO)
- Utilize GitHub for version control, branching, pull requests, and peer reviews
- Maintain awareness of plugin ecosystems, selecting and integrating tools as needed (GreenHouse, Safebase)
- Ensure a high level of detail, documentation, and organization in both design and code
- Work on a flexible schedule with strong ownership of your time and deliverables
Requirements
- 1–4 years of experience in product design and/or frontend engineering
- Strong proficiency with Figma and an eye for layout, typography, and interaction design
- Familiarity with React, Next.js, and eagerness to deepen frontend engineering skills
- Comfortable working with GitHub and Homebrew-based development workflows
- Experience deploying to platforms like Vercel and WPEngine
- Confident in managing and customizing WordPress sites and plugins
- Proactive about learning and implementing AI tools like V0.dev
- Experience working across various CMS platforms with a fast learning curve
- Clear communicator who thrives in a collaborative, hybrid creative/technical environment
- Strong attention to website compliance standards (WCAG, SEO, performance best practices)
Nice to Haves
- Experience maintaining or contributing to a shared design system
- Exposure to motion/interaction design and animation tooling
- Background in startup environments or lean product teams
The pay ranges for New York-based hires are commensurate with candidate experience.
Pay ranges for candidates working in locations other than New York may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
