cFocus Software seeks a Database Administrator to join our program supporting the United States Air Force (USAF). This position is on-site in Linthicum Heights, MD. This position requires an Active TS/SCI clearance.
Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • B.S. Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Experience installing, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting enterprise database environments.
  • Ability to monitor database performance, diagnose availability issues, and implement approved tuning and optimization changes.
  • Experience managing database backups, validating restores, and documenting recovery procedures.
  • Experience administering database accounts, access permissions, secure configurations, and patches.
  • Working knowledge of data structures, data integrity, ETL processes, and database support for reporting or business intelligence.
  • Ability to maintain technical documentation, follow controlled changes and deployments, and provide evidence for security assessments.
  • Clear communication skills for working with users, system owners, and technical teams
Duties:
  • Install, configure, deploy, and administer assigned database environments in accordance with Government-approved requirements, designs, security baselines, and change procedures.
  • Proactively monitor database health, availability, and performance. Investigate alerts, diagnose operational problems, and coordinate rapid resolution with application and infrastructure teams.
  • Analyze database workloads and resource utilization, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement approved tuning and optimization measures.
  • Configure and maintain database backup and recovery processes, monitor job results, investigate failures, and perform recovery validation to support reliable restoration.
  • Administer database user accounts and permissions only as authorized by the Government. Conduct regular permission audits and correct discrepancies with the appropriate system owners.
  • Apply approved database updates, patches, and secure configurations in coordination with cybersecurity and systems personnel. Document changes and validate affected services.
  • Support construction, configuration, and operation of data warehouse and data lake environments under Government-approved designs and data models.
  • Work with data and business intelligence engineers on database structures, Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) integration, and reporting platform requirements.
  • Implement assigned data security and access controls under the approved system security plan. Support data tagging, metadata management, and interoperable data standards.
  • Support data quality monitoring and remediation by investigating data integrity issues, coordinating corrective actions, and supplying monthly metrics and reporting inputs.
  • Maintain database configuration records, operating procedures, backup and recovery documentation, and technical inventories. Provide current-state and capacity information for planning.
  • Support approved automated deployment and configuration workflows, including testing, change traceability, and production releases under DevSecOps procedures.
  • Provide database logs, monitoring data, and technical evidence for incident response, Risk Management Framework assessments, and ATO or continuous ATO activities.
  • Coordinate database dependencies and outages with service desk, NOC, application, and cybersecurity teams. Support continuity planning and twice-yearly system recovery testing.

Skills Required

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Experience installing, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting enterprise database environments
  • Ability to monitor database performance, diagnose availability issues, and implement approved tuning and optimization changes
  • Experience managing database backups, validating restores, and documenting recovery procedures
