Job Title: Customer Preferences, Privacy Program Operations

The Customer Data & Identity organization is enabling Walmart to better understand who the Walmart customer is. At the same time, we are ensuring streamlined processes, security, scalability, regulatory compliance and best in class customer experience. The customer is at the heart of all we do at Walmart. The Customer Data & Identity team will amplify customer centricity by deepening the company’s understanding of customers and their preferences. When we do that, we can serve them when and how they need.

The team collaborates with product, risk technology, digital citizenship, as well as multiple business teams to create a holistic and consistent digital view of our customers’ preferences and choices when it comes to sharing their personal information with Walmart. If you are passionate about creating safer digital spaces and protecting customer trust, you may be the ideal candidate for our Customer Preferences, Privacy Program Operations role on the Customer Data & Identity team.

As a Senior Manager for Customer Preferences, Privacy Program Operations, you will be responsible for implementing and operating a unified business strategy around customer data privacy and supporing the creation of trust-building experiences for our customers. This role will report directly to the Director, Business Strategy and will be located either in Sunnyvale, CA, or Bentonville, AR.

Privacy Program Definition and Planning, Technology Landscape Awareness

  • Support the design and leadership of a comprehensive data privacy strategy that aligns with the organization’s overall business objectives based on demonstrated understanding of domain specific market standards, existing and upcoming systems, technologies and trends in privacy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate a customer focus in the product design and compliance set up of privacy.
  • As part of the program’s financial management, translate program goals into tangible implications for the business with success metrics, business cases and financial business impact assessment.
  • Define deliverables and schedules for managing multiple medium to high complexity projects within the privacy program as part of defining the overall program and comprehend the operational and financial factors that drive project success.

Business Operations for Customer Focused Privacy

  • Develop business cases for privacy experiences that prioritize customer trust, enhancing transparency and engagement while complying with regulatory requirements.
  • Drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; develop and communicate business needs and priorities.
  • Get involved and provide support to technology/ domain stakeholders to solve complex issues between front end and back end, based on solid technology landscape awareness.
  • Remove barriers and obstacles that impact performance of the privacy program, measure progress and adjust performance accordingly.
  • Independently prepare clear, concise, logically structured and meaningful (executive) reports/material and communication.
  • Support the creation of privacy-related content, including customer-facing policies, educational materials, and internal training resources, ensuring they are clear, accessible, and aligned with our guiding principles.
  • Budget manage internal and external resources and monitor delivery schedules.

Stakeholder Management, Program Monitoring and Control

  • Track progress of the program and develop forecasts to overcome anticipated risks, and create core team and executive program reporting including performance metrics for the program. 
  • Communicate articulately and concisely in cross-functional stakeholder meetings involving multiple teams and convey complex information and address ambiguity for robust technology development.
  • Build productive, collaborative relationships with stakeholders. Influence team and stakeholders to take meaningful action with sound recommendations.
  • Serve as an interpreter and conduit to connect business unit with tech, product and legal domain needs with tangible solutions and results.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree required/MBA strongly preferred, in computer science, management information systems, engineering management, business, information systems, project/program management, information technology, finance, management, or related area.
  • 5+ years’ experience in project / program management, program operations, or related area within Business Strategy and/or data privacy.
  • Compliance/Legal/Business administration/strategy background.
  • Sound business judgment as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements, and prioritize.
  • Must be able and willing to think and act strategically and tactically.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, proven ability to influence others internally and externally.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful programs globally.
  • Strong understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and market trends in the retail and data privacy space.
