The (USA) Manager, Automation Engineering leads the design, integration, and continuous improvement of automation systems within supply chain operations. About the team:
The Walmart Supply Chain Automation Engineering team develops and scales technology to enhance safety, reliability, and productivity across the distribution network. The Grocery Automation Engineering group supports automated systems for fresh and grocery products, from facility design to ongoing operations. The Perishable Automation Performance & Ramp team ensures sites meet business goals through automation, system optimization, and performance improvements. The Live Site Modernization & Solutions team leads complex upgrades in automated grocery centers, collaborating with cross-functional partners to deliver scalable solutions, manage projects end-to-end, and modernize operations while maintaining continuous network performance.
What you'll do:
- Analyze automation performance and translate data into actionable improvement opportunities.
- Design and assess process flows to strengthen automation and supply chain integration.
- Develop scalable, programmatic approaches to automation improvements across live sites.
- Lead cross-functional project execution, including coordinating on-site installations, vendors, site readiness, commissioning, and operational handoff.
- Build business cases by evaluating costs, benefits, engineering requirements, and implementation risks.
- Manage multiple projects through schedules, budgets, testing, resource coordination, status reporting, and stakeholder communication.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience leading large-scale automation, engineering, or capital projects in complex, live operational environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects end to end, including scope, schedule, budget, risks, resources, installation, commissioning, and handoff.
- Strong track record partnering with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience managing vendors and contractors, including technical alignment, performance, issue resolution, and delivery accountability.
- Ability to translate operational needs and performance data into practical, scalable automation improvements.
- Strong communication and influence skills to align stakeholders, escalate risks, and drive decisions across multiple concurrent initiatives.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
