The (USA) Director, Automation Engineering leads the strategic development and implementation of automation technologies to enhance supply chain efficiency. This role leverages advanced data analysis and engineering expertise to design, integrate, and optimize automated systems, ensuring alignment with business objectives. About the team:
The Fulfillment Automation Design team defines how Walmart’s next generation of fulfillment centers should work. We combine automation engineering, industrial engineering, analytics, and operations expertise to develop facility concepts, automation architectures, material flow strategies, capacity models, and design standards. Using simulation, data, and engineering analysis, the team evaluates tradeoffs, validates performance, and prepares concepts for detailed design and execution. Our work creates scalable, repeatable fulfillment solutions that improve capacity, speed, cost, resilience, and operational simplicity across Walmart’s network.
What you'll do:
- Lead concept development, system design, detailed engineering, and investment recommendations for next-generation fulfillment automation.
- Translate business, capacity, and operational requirements into scalable facility concepts, automation architectures, material flows, and design standards.
- Use data, simulation, and financial analysis to evaluate tradeoffs, validate performance, and guide technology and investment decisions.
- Lead cross-functional design efforts with Operations, Network Design, Real Estate, Construction, Product, Finance, and automation partners.
- Build engineering capability, strengthen design standards, and ensure concepts transition effectively into execution and deployment.

- Proven ability to leverage data analysis and advanced analytics to influence strategic decisions and optimize automation performance.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
