Job Description
Fragomen is looking to hire an US Immigration Lawyer to join our professional team in Sydney, Australia.
Do you have US immigration law experience.
Our fast-paced team is looking for the right person with an interest in US corporate immigration, with the level of role offered which will be commensurate with your experience.
You will demonstrate a sound working knowledge of US immigration law, regulations and policy, and ability to work on and support other members of the team on highly technical immigration matters. You will have the ability to provide legal immigration advice and experience in managing a caseload independently.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assess eligibility, identify legal issues, and determine appropriate case strategy for individuals and corporate foreign national employees seeking non-immigrant and immigrant visa status in the United States
- Work with global mobility personnel and individual clients to prepare applications for submission to U.S. Consulates in the APAC region
- Assist U.S. legal teams with questions and needs pertaining to consular practices in the APAC region
- Communicate with clients and colleagues on complex Consular case matters, including refusal risks, processing trends, and criminal matters
- Draft and file petition applications
- Liaise with US Embassies and Consulates
- Manage, provide training, and review the work of a small team of paralegals
- Handle consultations regarding specific visa issues or general inquiries
- Manage relationships with corporate clients with an Australia presence.
- Manage a broad caseload
- Coordinate with FCP management in the U.S. regarding distribution of incoming work, resources, and regional developments.
- Develop a network of contacts in the APAC region, and identify and foster opportunity for business development
- Contribute to the Firm’s overall initiatives
- Display professionalism, quality service and a positive attitude.

- U.S. JD qualification
- Ideally has 5+ years of experience working on US corporate immigration matters
- Quick learner with high level written and oral communication and a focus on client service
- Process driven, with excellent attention to detail, organizational and time-management skills
- Accountable, with an ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Effective team player with a flexible and can-do work approach
- Good systems and technology skills

Skills Required
- U.S. JD qualification
- Sound working knowledge of US immigration law, regulations and policy

- Experience drafting and filing US petition applications and liaising with US Embassies/Consulates
- Experience working with global mobility personnel and corporate clients
- Experience managing, providing training for, and reviewing the work of a small team of paralegals
- High-level written and oral communication skills and strong client service focus
- Process-driven with excellent attention to detail, organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Good systems and technology skills
- 5+ years of experience working on US corporate immigration matters
- Ability to develop APAC network and contribute to business development
