Position Overview
The Climate Change & Climate Action Specialist will provide technical expertise in developing and implementing climate mitigation and adaptation strategies for urban and regional development programmes. The expert will support governments in preparing climate action plans, greenhouse gas inventories, vulnerability assessments, emissions reduction strategies and implementation frameworks aligned with national and international climate commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Climate Action Plans.
Conduct climate vulnerability assessments.
Prepare GHG inventories.
Develop mitigation and adaptation strategies.
Prepare climate indicators.
Support governance systems.
Review climate policies.
Develop investment priorities.
Prepare technical reports.
Conduct workshops.
Integrate climate into infrastructure.
Support data analysis.
Prepare implementation roadmaps.
Educational Qualifications
Essential: Master's in Climate Change/Environmental Science/Engineering/Sustainability.
Preferred: PhD or climate certifications.
Professional Experience:
8+ years preparing climate action plans, vulnerability assessments and government advisory.
Technical Competencies:
Climate Adaptation; Climate Mitigation; GHG Inventory; Carbon Accounting; Climate Risk; Urban Resilience; MRV; Net Zero.
Preferred Sector Experience :
Urban Climate; Sustainable Cities; Renewable Energy; Transport; Water; Solid Waste.
