WTVO 17 and WQRF FOX 39 in Rockford, IL, are now accepting applications for unpaid internships within their weather/news department. The ideal candidate must have a desire to go into broadcast meteorology, be dependable, able to communicate well with others and be able to work flexible hours and varying schedules including mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Interns will work alongside the meteorologist on duty to put together forecasts for both on-air and online. They will gain hands-on experience with building weather graphics, writing up daily weather articles, participating in newsroom meetings, and assisting with other duties as necessary within the newsroom.
Requirements and skills:
- Interns must receive college course credit.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Willingness to learn.
