Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Marketing and Communications Lead Coordinator develops and coordinates content strategies and communications that advance the College’s enrollment, brand, engagement, and institutional priorities. The position creates and manages content across digital and traditional channels, coordinates content-related projects and workflows, and uses audience and performance data to support continuous improvement. The role collaborates with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and enterprise marketing partners to ensure communications are accurate, accessible, timely, and aligned with College and university standards.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Content Strategy & Planning – 25% 

  • Under the strategic direction of the Marketing Director, leads the day-to-day development and execution of content plans that support College enrollment, brand, and marketing priorities. 
  • Translates annual marketing and communications priorities into content calendars, campaign plans, and assigned deliverables. 
  • Coordinates content needs across academic programs, research, student success, advancement, and other College initiatives. 
  • Monitors developments in content trends, marketing technologies, and analytics tools and shares relevant information with the Marketing Director and marketing team. 
  • Identifies opportunities to improve content processes, workflows, audience engagement, and overall content effectiveness. 
  • Uses audience insights, content performance data, and established marketing practices to inform content planning and make recommendations for adjustments to messaging, formats, and distribution. 

Content Creation & Storytelling – 25% 

  • Leads the development and production of high-quality written and multimedia content in collaboration with the Marketing Director and marketing team, including website content and landing pages, email communications and nurture content, social media content, feature stories, news articles, thought leadership content, and printed materials. 
  • Collaborates with faculty, students, alumni, staff, and other stakeholders to identify and develop stories that reflect the College’s programs, people, mission, and impact. 
  • Ensures content is accurate, engaging, consistent with the College’s brand voice, accessible, and aligned with established editorial standards and WCAG requirements. 

Digital & Channel Execution – 25% 

  • Leads content execution across College-owned channels in coordination with digital and social media teams across the MUSC enterprise. 
  • Supports the Marketing Director and applicable teams with SEO, paid media, and analytics initiatives to improve content reach, engagement, and discoverability. 
  • Manages routine website content updates and assists with ongoing content optimization to improve the user experience, engagement, and conversion. 
  • Plans, schedules, and maintains digital signage communications. 
  • Partners with the Multimedia Developer by providing story briefs, content, and background information to support visual storytelling and multimedia production. 
  • Tracks and reviews content performance using established analytics dashboards and campaign performance indicators and uses findings to support ongoing content improvements. 

Project Management & Collaboration – 20% 

  • Leads content-related workflows, timelines, and approval processes to support the timely completion of assigned projects. 
  • Coordinates with faculty, staff, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to gather information, obtain approvals, and maintain project progress. 
  • Maintains editorial calendars, content briefs, project documentation, and other tools necessary to support organized and efficient content production. 
  • Prepares routine content performance summaries and project updates to support the Marketing Director and leadership decision-making. 
  • Coordinates the development and procurement of branded merchandise for marketing activities and events. 

Other Duties as Assigned – 5% 

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of College marketing, communications, enrollment, and institutional priorities
