Summary: The Unit Supervisor is responsible for the supervision on several key areas within their assigned unit. These areas include employee supervision, employee orientation and training, employee performance management, the day-to-day operations of the unit, and working within the treatment team and treatment plans for assigned unit.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Include:
Directly supervising 6 -8 Youth Care Specialists (YCS) and/or part time YCS.
1. Ensures the YCS in the assigned unit are trained in the policies and procedures of Every Child’s 
Hope (ECH) as it relates to their positions. 
2. Monitors the implementation of policies and procedures by the YCS and assists them in 
implementing the policies and procedures effectively.
3. Monitor and approve YCS timesheets via our payroll system in an accurate and timely manner.
4. Manage YCS schedule to ensure proper coverage of residents.
5. Evaluate YCS through annual performance appraisals.
6. Inform YCSD of any failure of YCS to perform their duties in an acceptable manner and 
document through performance management policies and procedures.
7. Assist in YCS screening and interviewing. Provide hiring recommendations to YCSD.
8. Maintain training expectations for self and YCS. This includes maintaining minimal annual 
training requirements and attending all mandatory trainings. Must complete Safe Crisis 
Management (SCM), med-certification, and CPR/First Aide certification.
9. Observe the interactions between YCS and youth and coach YCS staff on their technique to 
increase effective and strength-based interactions.
Attending to day-to-day operations of assigned unit:
1. Facilitate in-house meetings.
2. Maintain the supplies needed in unit including purchase orders for residents clothing.
3. Contact and follow up regarding maintenance and repairs for assigned unit.
4. Work with kitchen staff to meet the food needs of the unit.
5. Maintain an orderly, structured, clean and nurturing environment.
6. Conduct monthly Emergency Readiness and Safety Evaluations and turn into the YCSD.
Effectively implementing treatment plans for residents and ensuring all documentation is accurately 
completed:
1. Monitor the implementation of all the youth’s service plans and assist YCS to implement plans 
effectively and consistently.
2. Prepare for and attend weekly team meetings and service plan reviews.
3. Train and assist YCS in how to document and conduct service plan reviews (SPR’s).
4. Work with nursing staff regarding all resident medication management needs.
5. Work with the resident’s therapist and care manager regarding meeting the schedule needs of 
the residents.
6. Complete youth care assessments.
Ensuring the daily structure and routine is consistently conducted including all youth activities:
1. Act as primary care giver instructing the youth in personal hygiene, table manners, eating 
habits, clothing care, money management, time management, study habits and other daily living 
skills.
2. Provide active supervision with residents. 
3. Role model and encourage healthy relationships.
4. Administer medication and properly document procedure.
5. Provide recreational and leisure activities for residents.
6. Develop and facilitate in-house peer to peer groups.
7. Implement and follow the rules, routine, and structure of the unit. 
8. Maintain logs and daily communication. Clearly express verbally and in writing the needs of the 
residents and the program. 
9. Manage house funds and resident’s weekly allowance.

Other job responsibilities:
1. Attend committee meetings, supervisor team meetings, and other various required meetings.
2. Be available when necessary to work in other programs, units or departments within the agency.
3. Implement any continuous quality improvement procedures requested by the QA Director. 
4. Be on call in a rotating weekend on call schedule.
5. Responsible for being trauma aware, sensitive, and responsive to youth, families and colleagues 
through the completion of new hire and annual trauma informed education and training.
6. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and at least two years of experience 
and/or training in a residential treatment facility or supervisor experience; or equivalent 
combination of education and experience.
