Are you an accomplished Production Manager eager to embrace a challenging environment where you can make a profound impact? We are looking for a seasoned Unit Manager to join our team at our factory in Hoogezand.
The Essity site in Hoogezand (550 FTE) is highly dynamic, with each day offering new challenges and opportunities. With 18 production lines, we produce personal care products (e.g., incontinence products under the renowned TENA and Libero brands) 24 hours a day. Owing to substantial recent and upcoming investments, we are equipped with a state-of-the-art machine park, continually enhanced with the latest production technologies.
About the Role
As Unit Manager you are ultimately responsible for the total operational results, both financial and non-financial (SQCDM) of your unit. You will contribute to the Site's Compelling Business Needs (CBN) and establish your Unit Objectives and Goals in line with Site CBN;
You will coach and develop the organization in Lean Manufacturing behaviors and loss elimination strategies by spending significant quality time on the shopfloor, staying attuned to the needs of the crew and department managers, and challenging the status quo.
In this role you will be a member of the Management Team, reporting directly to the Site Manager.
What You Will Do
Be a role model on safety and 6S, ensure that the safety culture is challenged and increased;
Create, drive and improve Manufacturing Pillars such like: Preventive Maintenance, CIL, CL, 6S, Defects Elimination, Breakdown Elimination e.d.
Be responsible for the product quality, ensuring quality controls and execution of improvement cycles in line with our Essity standards;
Be responsible for development of the organizational capability, in close collaboration with the Organization Improvement Management department, to get the expected results;
Hold weekly result follow ups with your team and engineers to identify manufacturing losses and support on the action plans to eliminate those;
Lead and drive the journey of manufacturing excellence by role-modelling the desired behaviors on the shopfloor;
Apply Daily Direction Setting (DDS) methodology to create and run to standard and the Safety Culture;
Accountable for the unit Operational Budget and non-financial KPI’s. Run the operation on agreed cost and performance targets, understands the cost structure and drives improvements;
Accountable for the Performance Management process within his/her department. Drive talent review, IDP development and succession planning.
Who You Are
(Applied) University degree in engineering;
10 years of relevant experience in production;
5 years of management experience;
A natural leader with a proven track record of ‘Run to Standard’ and ‘Rigorous in Execution’ mentality/approach;
Proven and deep expertise of TPM and Lean Manufacturing;
Ability to build effective teams and handle diversity; Change agent, able to implement new improvements;
Ability to work in a complex (matrix) organization (matrix structure);
Flexible with high level of initiative and ambition to achieve tangible results;
Well organized, able to focus on several issues simultaneously and prioritize effectively;
Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
