Underwriting Assistant – Job Description
Job Title: Underwriting Assistant
Sector: Transactional Risk
Location: London, One Creechurch Place / Hybrid working
This is a new and fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious and detail-orientated individual to join an expanding warranty and indemnity insurance (W&I) underwriting team at an established and specialist global managing general agent (MGA) as a W&I Insurance Underwriting Assistant. This role would suit an individual with a desire to work within the M&A sector and pursue a career in insurance. The candidate would work closely with underwriters and learn from industry experts about the fast-paced world of M&A.
The successful candidate will be given a great deal of responsibility and exposure to brokers from day one. In particular, their responsibilities will include:
- Managing the UK W&I Submissions inbox;
- Ensuring the timely return of NDAs, Sanctions Checks, Hold Harmless Letters and Expense Agreements as the point of contact with our external consultants at WNS;
- Using ComplyAdvantage to undertake and manage Client Risk Management checks;
- Assessing new risks and presenting each Target business to the UK W&I team for discussion;
- Ensuring the SalesForce Dashboard presents an up-to-date picture of all submissions and deals in underwriting;
- Assisting the W&I team in winning new business by preparing quotes (Non-Binding Indications) on SalesForce and submitting final NBI terms to brokers;
- Providing ad hoc support on live deals to Underwriters/ Senior Underwriters in the UK W&I team; and
- Liaising with the finance team to ensure invoices are sent and paid.
For the right person, there is a clear route for progression in this role from an Underwriting Assistant to an Assistant Underwriter and then a Junior Underwriter (and beyond!).
Requirements
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and proactive approach to work.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with brokers professionally.
- Degree Grade: 2.1.
- Competency in using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
