Job Description

Provide diagnostic ultrasound services within a structured healthcare environment supporting U.S. government personnel in Iraq. Working alongside physicians, imaging professionals, laboratory teams, and multidisciplinary healthcare staff, this role combines hands-on sonography, clinical assessment, and diagnostic collaboration to support timely and accurate patient care.

Location: Iraq

This role offers the opportunity to practice across a broad clinical scope while contributing to coordinated healthcare delivery within an established international medical program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic sonography examinations across a variety of patient presentations while adapting imaging techniques to support accurate diagnostic evaluation.
  • Analyze sonographic findings, synthesize patient history and clinical information, and communicate preliminary findings to physicians in accordance with established procedures.
  • Use independent clinical judgment to support accurate diagnostic imaging and identification of normal and pathologic findings.
  • Support safe, patient-centered imaging care by helping patients feel informed and comfortable throughout examinations while collaborating closely with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Assist with daily sonography workflow, imaging documentation, scheduling coordination, equipment monitoring, and departmental quality activities.
  • Participate in imaging quality initiatives, accreditation support, and ongoing clinical coordination activities within the imaging environment.
  • Provide imaging-related education and procedural guidance to healthcare team members as needed.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program.
  • 2+ years of recent ultrasound imaging experience within a hospital or clinical environment.
  • Current BLS certification and compliance with applicable Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform diagnostic sonography examinations, evaluate sonograms, and communicate clinical findings effectively within a healthcare team environment.
  • Ability to meet pre-deployment physical requirements, including prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident with a valid passport.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain MRPT security clearance and ability to meet deployment-related medical and physical requirements.

Preferred

  • CAAHEP-accredited sonography program.
  • ARRT and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) eligibility or certification.
  • Experience with digital image acquisition and transmission systems, imaging quality practices, or general x-ray support.
  • Previous experience in international, military, or multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
