Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will organize and perform the ultrasound examinations and Ultrasound guided procedures in a team environment; Maintain and document high quality images and technologist notes during the course of duties; Actively participate in the implementation of strategies aimed at improving operational efficiency and effectiveness of the ultrasound service; With special focus on delivering optimal patient centred care, provide effective communication with clinical teams, patients and family; Part of a clinical team, work effectively with nurse, physicians, and other health care professionals.

You will be required to work at all SHN hospital locations.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an established and accredited ultrasound program
  • Minimum of current 2 years of hospital experience
  • Current membership with CMRITO in good standing with MRT(DMS) credential
  • Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
  • Maintain registry status, in good standing by meeting all professional and college requirements.
  • Registration and working knowledge of following specialties: Ultrasound Physics & Instrumentation, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Abdomen and Vascular, Breast imaging.
  • Must have venous and arterial doppler and breast imaging experience.
  • Breast Ultrasound (diagnostic and screen) experience required, include interpretation of mammogram and breast MRI, knowledge of BIRADS system and breast pathology.
  • Demonstrated technical capability in various ultrasound systems (eg. GE and Philips)
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, assess patient capabilities and limitations and make practice adjustments as necessary
  • Computer keyboarding and literacy skills
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this are
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
  • Excellent work performance, punctuality and attendance
