Summary :The Ultrasound Technologist II preforms a wide variety of routine and complex ultrasound procedures including general , OB-GYN, vascular, and breast exams in a variety of settings and on patients of all ages. Evaluates images to ensure they are of acceptable diagnostic quality. Adheres to ThedaCare safety and quality standards, and uses proper ergonomic techniques.

Job Description:

SCHEDULE:
Hours of operation: Sunday - Saturday
Workdays: Friday - Sunday - Weekend only position
Work Hours: Friday - 8-hour shift; Sat & Sun 6:00am - 6:00pm
 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Applies knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology, and uses critical thinking to implement appropriate image techniques using established protocols to acquire required images.

  • Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients.

  • Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy or procedure including proper imaging management and accurate documentation in electronic medical records.

  • Practices safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for team members and patients using mobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices (proper personal protective equipment), and following hand hygiene to comply with government agencies and other regulatory bodies.

  • Adjusts to changing or unusual circumstances, and is able to care for patients in a variety of settings to ensure their comfort and safety.

  • Assists providers in diagnostic and interventional procedures.

QUALIFIATIONS:

  • Minimum two (2) years clinical experience performing a variety of US procedures (Biopsy, Paracentesis, Clip Placement, Etc.) in a hospital setting.

  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in a minimum of two (2) certifications; (RDMS) in Abdomen, OB-GYN, Breast, or Pelvic Sonography OR (RVT) Registered Vascular Technologist OR any ARRT equivalent.

  • RVT credential must be earned within 24 months of completing orientation, if not already acquired.

  • BLS certification required.

Skills Required

  • At least two years of clinical experience performing varied ultrasound procedures in a hospital setting
  • Experience with procedures such as biopsy, paracentesis, and clip placement
  • Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography with at least two certifications in approved sonography specialties, or hold RVT or equivalent ARRT credentials
  • Obtain the RVT credential within 24 months of completing orientation if not already acquired
  • Basic Life Support certification
