Primary Function

Responsible for providing quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures and the care needed to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities

-Independently perform ultrasound examinations exercising judgment to recognize and record pathologists and abnormalities necessary to provide a diagnosis.

-Review patient’s medical records and clinical information to evaluates patient’s condition and to determine the diagnostic information the physician is seeking.

-Summarize and document findings for radiologists and communicate with referring physicians, radiologists, nursing staff and other departments about the examination.

-Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals

- Assist specialty physicians in performing invasive procedures (e.g., amniocentesis and biopsies) by providing ultrasound guidance for needle entrance.

-Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Specifications

A graduate from an accredited Ultrasound program required. A minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. CPR Certification required. RDMS required. RVT required (Certified Ultrasonographer position only).

Skills Required

  • Graduate from an accredited Ultrasound program
  • Minimum six months job-related experience or equivalent
  • CPR Certification
  • RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer)
  • RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) - required for Certified Ultrasonographer positions
