Job Summary:

As a full-time UK Program Engineer, you will provide support to the NNSA UK Team Lead and the W93 Federal Program Manager (FPM), associated with the W93/UK Replacement Warhead (RW). You’ll assist with technical, program and project management support to the UK Team Lead/W93 FPM, as well as liaison with other Defense Programs (DP), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), UK Program and Department of Defense (DoD) organizations associated with the W93/UK-RW initiatives.    

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Senior Program Support Engineer supporting established US/UK nuclear weapon exchanges under the auspices of the 1958 Mutual Defense Agreement (MDA).
  • Assist federal team members with negotiating requirements, program planning and direction, with the DoD (US Navy) and integration of activities supporting that program within the NNSA Nuclear Weapons Complex.
  • Direct planning and execution via Warhead Side Sessions for joint US/UK weapon program research, design, development, production, modification, surveillance, safety and dismantlement.
  • Assess current and needed capability and capacity of the NNSA weapons production complex for the assigned weapon program and coordinates necessary facility and resource planning based on this information from the UK.
  • Provide experience-driven guidance to support development of new or revised policies, requirements, and procedures for US compatibility assessment for UK program, qualification, production and procurement activities.
  • Ensure nuclear weapons complex integration in support of weapon program commitments and deliverables and is accountable to NNSA, US Navy and UK senior leadership for performance and achievement of programmatic commitments.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science, although a degree in business, project/program management, or related field with relevant experience may be considered.  
  • Active Q or Top Secret security clearance.
  • 15 or more years of technical experience in weapons/nuclear weapons and delivery platforms, including program/project management or systems engineering, nuclear weapons system sustainment or acquisition to include international programs.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of nuclear weapons, ideally SLBMs
  • Knowledge of NNSA and Navy Strategic Systems Programs (ideally).
  • Depth of experience managing interfaces between NNSA/DOE, Nuclear National Laboratories and Nuclear Production Agencies, and DoD.
  • NNSA/DoD Interagency experience.
  • Knowledge of the substantive nature of NNSA Nuclear Weapons programs and activities; missions, policies, and objectives; management principles and processes; and the analytical and evaluative methods and techniques for assessing program development or execution and improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency with an emphasis on 6.X process.
  • 30 – 50% travel required, including international travel.

Compensation & Benefits:

The expected base salary range for this role is $370,000 - $390,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
