Introduction to Multi Asset Strategies & Solutions GroupThe Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) team is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of the firm’s index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver investment outcomes and ground-breaking alpha insights. MASS constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels.
Role Description & ResponsibilitiesMASS is looking for a motivated individual to join our Pensions Portfolios Solutions team in the UK, with a focus on our UK OCIO business. This team designs, implements, and leads on all aspects of portfolio construction and asset allocation to solve our pension client’s investment challenges. The team covers Outsourced CIO solutions as well as tailored investment mandates oriented around client outcomes for pension schemes.
Responsibilities- Serve as Client Chief Investment Officer for UK Defined Benefit clients: Provide strategic investment leadership, working closely with internal investment teams and senior client representatives to deliver best‑in‑class outcomes.
- Act as a senior adviser to pension schemes and their executive offices: Lead on investment advisory, portfolio construction and risk management. Represent the firm at Client Investment Committees, Trustee Boards and corporate sponsor meetings.
- Drive business development and growth: Play a key role in pitching to prospective clients, articulating our value proposition, and supporting the expansion of our UK DB fiduciary / OCIO franchise.
- Lead innovation across our UK investment offering: Shape and enhance our investment proposition through thought leadership, research, and the development of new frameworks, tools and strategic solutions.
- Deliver high‑quality investment analysis and insight: Develop analyses across asset allocation, portfolio construction, LDI, funding and risk management, implementation efficiency and market dynamics.
- Build deep, trusted relationships with pension trustees and sponsors: Understand clients’ objectives, constraints and governance requirements.
- Represent the firm externally: Contribute to seminars, industry events, round‑tables and client forums, acting as a senior ambassador for the UK DB business.
- Contribute to research and intellectual leadership: Support the production of market insights, thematic research, articles and white papers on topics relevant to UK pensions and institutional investment.
- Deep investment and technical experience with a good understanding of financial markets, and ideally some experience in one or more of the following areas: Pension funds, asset allocation, LDI and derivatives
- CFA and/or FIA encouraged but not required
- Proven record of academic achievement, work ethic, and leadership
- A genuine inclination for quantitative analysis and the ability to work through sophisticated problems and challenges to provide innovative insights
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex topics to non-technical individuals in writing as well as verbally
- Curious self-starter passionate about execution with results-oriented work ethic and professional disposition
- Strong teammate who takes a collaborative and cooperative approach to tasks, but can work independently if necessary
- Organized and detail-oriented, able to prioritize and multi-task quickly efficiently, adapting to new situations in a fast-paced environment
- Being a strong fiduciary by ensuring the highest level of integrity and professionalism in every aspect of performance

Our hybrid work model
