We exist to unlock human potential.
Too often, AI drains it—drains budgets, drains energy resources, drains ownership of data. OpenTeams was founded to change that. We build AI that empowers. Our models are energy-efficient, cost-effective, and fully yours.
Our ethos is open source. That means freedom, trust, and accountability are built into every line of code. We reinvest 3% of our profits back into the open-source community, because we believe tech is most powerful when it serves everyone.
At our core, we value freedom, teamwork, accountability, and uncompromising quality. If you want to challenge the status quo, and shape tools that set people free, OpenTeams is the place to do it.
Job Title: UI/UX Designer
Location: Remote
Salary Range: $70,000-$125,000 (determined based on location and experience)
Work Authorization: Authorized to work where they live
About the RoleWe’re looking for a UI/UX designer to join our engineering team and help craft the interfaces that define how people use what we build. You’ll work closely with engineers and PMs to translate features and workflows into clear, polished, production-ready designs — with a particular focus on web UI and AI-driven experiences.
This is a hands-on execution role. You’ll spend most of your time in Figma: wireframing, iterating on user flows, refining visual design, and producing implementation-ready specs for engineering. We’re looking for someone who can thoughtfully navigate UX challenges, contribute ideas and perspectives confidently, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teammates throughout the design process.
You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy balancing product thinking, usability, and visual polish while working in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design web UI, Desktop, and AI-assisted flows from wireframe to final spec, ready for engineering handoff.
- Collaborate daily with engineers and PMs to align on requirements, constraints, and tradeoffs before and during design.
- Contribute to and maintain shared Figma component libraries and design system documentation.
- Design for AI-native surfaces: streaming outputs, loading and uncertainty states, agentic interactions, and dynamic content.
- Participate in design reviews, gather feedback, and iterate quickly through multiple rounds.
- Help conduct or support usability testing and synthesize findings into actionable design changes
- A portfolio showing shipped web UI work — strong visual craft, clear interaction thinking, and real product context.
- Solid Figma proficiency: components, prototyping, and clean developer handoff. You should be fast and organized in Figma.
- Direct experience designing for AI products — you've worked on features powered by LLMs, ML models, or generative systems and understand how that changes the design problem.
- Comfort with modern web design fundamentals: responsive layouts, design tokens, basic CSS and how your designs map to code.
- Good visual design instincts — you can produce work that is both functional and aesthetically considered.
- Ability to work with some ambiguity: take a rough brief, ask the right questions, and turn it into a clear design proposal.
- Experience designing conversational UI, chat interfaces, or AI copilot surfaces.
- Basic HTML/CSS skills or the ability to inspect and edit front-end code.
- Exposure to design systems work — contributing components, writing usage guidelines, or maintaining tokens.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to apply them in practice.
