Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our core product, Learning Experience Platform (LXP). In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize scalable backend services —ensuring high quality, de-coupling, testability, high performance and maintainability.
You’ll be part of a high-impact, cross-functional team of talented engineers who thrive on self-less collaboration and are passionate about building user-centric, cloud applications.

Day In The Life
- Own end-to-end implementation of new backend services and enhancements to existing services in a loosely coupled architecture.
- Continuously enhance system architecture by researching and implementing modern engineering best practices, and re-architecting legacy services to improve scalability, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Design and run A/B tests to measure the impact of feature improvements and refine your approach based on real-world usage data.
- Investigate and troubleshoot production incidents, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless functionality and minimal downtime.
- Contribute to a culture of learning and knowledge sharing by mentoring teammates, leading brown bag sessions on best practices and new technologies.
- Work in an Agile environment, fostering a culture of selfless collaboration, trust, and strong team bonding, where individuals support each other and grow together.
Who You Are

- Proven experience in designing, developing, and scaling backend services for complex, high-scale cloud-native applications. This is a fundamental requirement for the role.
- You have a founder mentality—demonstrating ownership, accountability, and a focus on delivering impactful results. This is a must for the role.
- 7+ years of overall experience, with 3+ years of hands-on experience in designing and optimizing scalable APIs and microservices.
- Hands-on experience in backend programming languages such as C# or Java designing and implementing robust Rest APIs in a microservice architecture..
- Experience with database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), including schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimization for high-performance applications.
- Experience with containerization, event-driven architectures, and caching strategies.
What Sets You Apart
- Expertise in C# and SQL, with experience working on distributed systems and understanding of the UI framework like Angular.
- Experience working in the semantic search domain or Elasticsearch will be a big plus.
- Startup experience with a demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environments, adapt to evolving priorities and deliver impactful results in limited timelines.
Contributions to open-source projects or experience working on impactful side projects that demonstrate innovation, problem-solving, and technical excellence.
