Valley Health System is looking for a candidate to build and support the interfaces that keep clinical, operational, and financial data flowing across the organization. The role works with technologies like HL7, FHIR, RESTful APIs, web services, and file-based data exchange to connect Epic with third-party and vendor systems. This is a hands-on position that involves gathering requirements, designing, developing, configuring and testing integrations, while maintaining strong change control, security, and data integrity.
Also supports systems beyond Epic.


Position Summary

Under direction of Information Systems management, is responsible for the full development lifecycle of business applications from analysis, requirements gathering, design, implementation, training, troubleshooting, maintenance, and future upgrades or enhancements. Provides a methodical approach to change control, documentation, system security, and data integrity. Works closely with application teams, subject matter experts, operational stakeholders, and third-party vendors to determine business needs, document requirements, and configure or develop solutions that support reliable data exchange and application functionality.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent field of study, or relevant work-related education/experience required. Master's degree preferred.
  • If an application requires certification, it must be obtained within 6 months and maintained throughout employment.
  • Epic Certification Required.

Experience

  • Minimum of four years of experience implementing and supporting business applications, integrations, interfaces, or related technical solutions.
  • Experience with interoperability standards, APIs, secure data exchange, troubleshooting, and enterprise application support is strongly preferred.

  • Evaluates and prioritizes requests for system enhancements and provides timetables for completion. Ensures all such requests are completed within established time frames.
  • Develops, configures, tests, and supports application functionality, integrations, interfaces, reports, workflows, APIs, and related technical solutions using appropriate tools, standards, and development practices.
  • Manages the implementation lifecycle of assigned application, integration, and technical solutions, including analysis, design, specification, implementation, go-live, and support.
  • Completes development and support activities by designing and conducting tests, contributing to team meetings, troubleshooting development and production issues, monitoring supported solutions, and collaborating with application, technical, operational, and vendor teams to resolve issues.
  • Reviews, triages, and resolves day-to-day application, integration, workflow, data, or technical errors, including coordinating with technical teams, application teams, operational stakeholders, and third-party representatives as necessary.
  • Works with technical platforms, application teams, and vendors to develop configuration, transformation, workflow, and data-translation strategies that support business and operational needs.
  • Identifies and escalates risks associated with technical tasks, project dependencies, operational impacts, and third-party systems.
  • Manages projects within assigned applications or functional areas, coordinating deliverables, timelines, and dependencies to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Identifies project risks, interdependencies, and issues, driving resolution to maintain progress, quality, and outcomes.
  • Communicates project status, decisions, and impacts to stakeholders for alignment and visibility.
  • Establishes and maintains complete and detailed system development and maintenance documentation.
  • Creates and maintains user guides and documentation, operating manuals and reference manuals.
  • Provides regular status reports to the department management.
  • Provides on-call coverage on a scheduled basis, in emergency situations and when requested by the department management.
  • Remains abreast of current and emerging technologies in the field of information systems.
  • Demonstrates positive behaviors toward patients, families, physicians, and all co-workers. Responds to customers of all age groups in a friendly, prompt, and caring manner while maintaining confidentiality. Promotes mutual respect and professionalism. Partners with team members to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Participates in the hospital's performance improvement process to continuously improve the quality of patient care and service delivery.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Acts as the lead resource for projects and supported systems assigned to more than one team member. Serves as the primary contact coordinating related activities across assigned resources.
  • Meets with management to discuss the status of assigned systems, projects, and functional areas. Maintains awareness of current work, pending items, risks, and priorities, and attends meetings prepared with appropriate materials.
  • Communicates priority changes to management, stakeholders, and team members supporting assigned work.
  • Responsible for monitoring and facilitating assigned work requests, support tickets, project tasks, and stakeholder requests, including preparing documentation, meeting materials, and status updates.
  • Acts as the primary liaison with the project or system stakeholders with respect to coordinating activities.
  • Communicates with management when work is not proceeding as expected.

Actual individual salaries vary depending on these factors. The salary listed does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.Pay Range: $104,374.40 - $130,478.40
