About the Role:
Wing is looking for a UAS Operations Manager to join our Fleet team and be based onsite in Dallas, TX or Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you’ll support development, rollout and oversight of a regional UAS fleet management operation, unlocking Wing's operational scale for years to come. This role will require meticulous planning and a strategic perspective to work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure the fleet management team can always supply business operations with abundant airworthy aircraft and consistent ground system support at scale.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and support the development of process and tooling to drive scaled operations centered around regional availability and reliability of unmanned aircraft fleets and associated ground systems
- Direct vendor field service, system maintenance and logistics support efforts on a daily basis; manage vendor oversight, audit and data collection tools to ensure service level agreements are maintained
- Travel to operational regions to establish fleet operations and to perform fleet inspections to verify technical and operational interdependencies to ensure high fleet availability rates
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses with internal partners and stakeholders that translates data into actionable insights for fleet health metrics
- Deliver recurring reports on fleet performance against availability targets, report on progress against issue resolution paths, and escalate findings to cross-functional engineering, operations and quality teams
- Foster highly collaborative cross-functional relationships with operations, engineering, quality and external supplier teams to ensure consistent and effective issue response strategies
- Work with fleet tooling and data science teams to evolve data signal availability and define metrics calculations
- Enable a responsive supply chain by proactively providing inputs for fleet service, maintenance and logistics issues
- Ensure compliant fleet operations by interacting with regulators under supervision of the Director of Maintenance
What You’ll Need:
- 8+ years experience in fleet management, field service or aviation ground operations management experience within US FAA and/or UK CAA regulatory environments
- Active FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate or eligibility for an FAA Repairman certificate
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems and Google Workspace
- Demonstrated ability managing programs leveraging scaled analytics with an understanding of statistical principles
- Demonstrated ability to execute and facilitate technical root cause analysis initiatives alongside engineering partners
- Technical understanding of complex autonomous, robotic, drone or aviation based systems as well as systems diagnostics best practices and root cause analysis best practices
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse team of stakeholders, including product & project managers, engineers, technicians, logisticians, quality assurance managers and vendor partners
