Job Requirements:
Candidates must have solid academic credentials from a top law school, strong writing and advocacy skills, and be admitted to the California bar. Interest in federal and state tax controversies and an LLM in Taxation from a top law school is preferred but not required. Property tax experience or prior government experience, from a state or federal agency or court, is also preferred.
Practice Summary:
Greenberg Traurig’s multidisciplinary Tax Practice attorneys provide tax planning and advice to clients, including major multinational corporations; large privately-owned businesses; financial institutions; exempt organizations; and private individuals, including high net worth individuals. Given our team’s diverse backgrounds and prior experience, including work in private industry, government, and private practice, we have the capabilities necessary to develop practical legal services to meet the challenges faced by this broad range of clients. We provide our clients with a range of tax services, including U.S., cross-border, and state and local tax advice in connection with both domestic and international mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions; global business structures; capital markets; fund formation; real estate investment/financing; finance and financial instruments; and dispute resolution and litigation. Additionally, we counsel senior management and business owners on tax issues regarding their personal income, estate, gift, and wealth transfer matters. We work closely with our clients to address the complex challenges of today’s uncertain market – seeking out greater efficiency in tax planning, ensuring compliance with ever-changing tax laws, and coordinating tax decisions from country to country.
Our State & Local Tax Practice offers a complete set of services, including the full range of counseling and controversy services. We counsel clients on transactional planning, tax-advantaged business restructuring, audit defense and representation in state and local administrative proceedings, appeals all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, and large-scale multi-jurisdictional litigation. GT is unique among national State and Local Tax practices because we also regularly partner with our firm’s nationally-recognized Government Law and Policy Practice to help clients achieve results in the legislature as well.

The expected pay range for this position is:
$215,000 - $390,000
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. Additional voluntary programs include: voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
