Job Description

The Turnaround Manager plays a critical leadership role in the planning, execution, and successful completion of industrial turnarounds and outages across FLINT projects. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of turnaround execution, including safety, quality, schedule, budget, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement.

Working collaboratively with clients, operations teams, field leadership, contractors, and senior management, the Turnaround Manager ensures turnarounds are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer expectations and business objectives. This role requires strong leadership, project management expertise, financial acumen, and a proven ability to manage complex industrial projects in fast-paced environments.

What would you be doing?

Turnaround Planning & Execution

Lead successful turnaround delivery by:

  • Managing turnaround projects from initiation through completion.
  • Defining turnaround scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
  • Developing execution strategies, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Monitoring critical path activities and managing project dependencies.
  • Ensuring turnarounds are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality expectations.
  • Managing change control processes and mitigating project risks.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

Promote operational excellence by:

  • Championing FLINT's safety culture and HSE initiatives.
  • Leading by example and fostering a zero-incident mindset.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitoring turnaround activities to ensure safe work execution.
  • Supporting quality control processes throughout the turnaround lifecycle.
  • Ensuring applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications are met.

Financial & Resource Management

Support operational performance by:

  • Developing and managing turnaround budgets and forecasts.
  • Estimating labour, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
  • Monitoring costs, productivity, and financial performance throughout execution.
  • Reviewing progress reporting, invoicing, payroll, and cost tracking systems.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and operational results.
  • Recommending budget adjustments and corrective actions when required.

Stakeholder & Team Leadership

Drive successful project outcomes by:

  • Building and leading high-performing turnaround teams.
  • Communicating project expectations with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing supervisors and field personnel.
  • Managing subcontractors and external service providers.
  • Facilitating productive meetings, progress reviews, and stakeholder communications.
  • Identifying and resolving project issues, conflicts, and operational challenges.

Continuous Improvement & Business Support

Contribute to organizational success by:

  • Conducting turnaround closeout reviews and lessons learned sessions.
  • Developing recommendations for future project improvements.
  • Supporting operational growth and business development initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Assisting with bid development, estimating, and strategic planning activities.
  • Supporting other operations functions and projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas, industrial construction, maintenance, turnarounds, outages, fabrication, or pipeline services in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Proven success leading large-scale turnaround and outage projects, including the management of multi-disciplinary teams, contractors, and workforces exceeding 200 craft personnel.
  • Strong knowledge of turnaround execution, maintenance programs, operations coordination, equipment management, cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and bid development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build strong customer relationships, and translate business objectives into safe and successful operational outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience analyzing financial and operational performance data and implementing improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and project documentation.

Skills Required

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas, industrial construction, maintenance, turnarounds, outages, fabrication, or pipeline services in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Proven success leading large-scale turnaround and outage projects, including managing multi-disciplinary teams and workforces exceeding 200 craft personnel.

  • Stakeholder management, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and project documentation.
  • Experience analyzing operational and financial performance data and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Willingness to complete drug and alcohol testing as this is a safety-sensitive position.
